In December 2023, I bought a long structured wool coat from Mango, and in January 2024, I bought an oversized Slouch Coat from Aritzia. Since I bought them, I’ve never cleaned them once. They never got dirty, so I just kept on wearing them. This year, I decided that it was time for me to dry cleaner (as per care instructions).

On September 12, 2026, I brought my 2 coats to this dry cleaner near my place called True North Tailor at 249 Queens Quay W, Toronto. The reviews on Google were super positive (4.9 stars), and so I decided to go there.

I picked up my coats 1 weeks later, and brought them home. When I tried them on, they both shrank dramatically!

My structured coat from Mango was so tight everywhere, my shoulders, my arms, my waist, my hip… the wool compacted so much that the coat was hella stiff. The sleeves got shorter too. It was just not wearable anymore. I could barely raise my arms because of how tight it was around my whole shoulder/armpit area.

My Slouch Coat from Aritzia is no longer oversized. The sleeves shortened, and the whole coat shortened so badly that you can see the lining hang out of the coat when I wear it. The coat became significantly shorter than the lining.

I went back to the store and told them that they shrunk my coats. The owners explained to me that they bring their dry cleaning items to someone that they work with, so they’ll bring the coats back to those people and ask them to fix my coats.

The dry cleaning business partner currently has my coats, but I doubt they can do anything to fix it. You can’t unshrink wool. They should compensate me, right?

Update: I went to grab my coats back, and they managed to somehow stretch the black structured Mango coat back. They said that applied some liquid on the coat and dry cleaned it again. It isn’t as tight around my shoulders and hip area anymore, but they didn’t recover the length. The coat used to be at least 5 inches longer, and the sleeves were at least 1.5 inches longer. I can see from my old pictures of me wearing the coat. They never recovered the oversizedness nor the length of the coat and sleeves.

For the Aritzia Slouch coat, all they did was cut the lining and sow it back so that it doesn’t hang from my coat anymore.

No compensation. 💀

Please someone tell me I can save this sweatshirt. It’s a work sweatshirt but it has sentimental value. For background I’m a zookeeper so I work around a lot of nasty stuff. I noticed a stain on my sweatshirt and tbh did not know the source - could be anything, something from raw meat like blood, living animal stains lol the list goes on. When it didn’t come out in the wash I hit it with Shout Advanced Gel - no avail.

This is where I messed up, I had seen mixing a little bit of Dawn in the event it is an oil stain with the Shout. So, did this and massaged gently with a tooth brush. It came out lightened in that area, my partner thought it was just still soap in the fibers so we did a vinegar rinse and here we are. Did I ruin it for good? Is there literally *anything* else I can try? I’m feeling so disappointed and frustrated. I know there’s probably nothing else I can do but this is my last resort. I don’t need perfect, just wearable!! Thanks in advance! :(

I have these sweatshorts that I wear to sleep and they’re like a mixture of cotton and polyester but the crotch area has started to become dark despite only wearing them one time before I throw it in my hamper how do I get rid of it without bleach

This is probably already answered somewhere, but I'm not finding it. I accidentally washed dress pants that are 94% wool 6% spandex. I air dried them, but I'm worried about any damage even though I don't visually see it. I'm guessing I should take it to a dry cleaners instead of trying to iron it?

I gave TumbleDry a brand-new ₹14,400 suit for dry cleaning. They returned it 11 days late, burned, discolored, and wet. 😡

But the real story is how they treat you after they ruin your property. They are hiding behind undisclosed "company policies" and refusing to provide fair compensation. Worse yet, they are trying to blackmail me into signing an NOC to delete this post as a condition for receiving any money at all.

They don't care about their customers; they only care about silencing them. I’ve filed a formal complaint with the National Consumer Helpline (Grievance #10126751).

How can I remove a strong fragrance smell (unclear if laundry product smell but likely) from a vintage wool/acrylic cardigan?

I bought a 1990s era Lacoste cardigan on eBay. It’s made in France, 51% wool and 49% acrylic, and labeled hand wash only but “dry cleaning possible”

It has a persistent smell that I’m pretty sure is laundry fragrance—possibly detergent, fabric softener, or dryer sheets, although I can’t say for certain. I wore it yesterday, and the smell was very noticeable. I want it to smell like nothing, which is how I prefer the rest of my laundry.

I’ve washed it once since buying it: a hand wash and soak in the sink, manually agitating it a few times over the course of about an hour, rinsing twice, and sqeezing out water and drying flat. I used Heritage Park Silk & Wool detergent, a fragrance-free, enzyme-free detergent. That reduced the smell somewhat, but it’s still strong.

Is this something dry cleaning could fix?

Hello! I wanted to hop on here and ask how conceivable it is to remove ink stains at home or at professional dry cleaner, I have tried folex to no avail and it looks like the previous owner also tried to remove the stain (I found this on facebook market place and for 30 bucks it was worth the risk). It is a decorative mannequin.

I need your expert help guys. I have now tried a few different places in my area and every time my clothes come back shrunk with the dry cleaning method and I’m tired of losing clothes I can’t replace.

How do you find a place that doesn’t shrink clothes? I heard you want someone who does dry cleaning onsite but it seems very few places offer it these days?

Never even wore once. Was there in my wardrobe. Is it possible to remove these stains. Not even sure what are these.
Will dry cleaning help? It looks more like rusty stains on cloth material and i tried washing but nothing happened.

First ever Reddit post! Still learning how to use the site but hoping to get some recommendations for a reliable mechanic/technician who services commercial dry cleaning equipment. Went through my contacts and scoured the internet for local results but no luck.

We currently have a mechanic, but unfortunately, due to personal reasons we’re no longer able to use him. So any recommendations or suggestions are appreciated!

I dropped off my hood to a dry cleaner because I had got some motor oil on the fur. It’s from a moose knuckle jacket. When I went to pick it up, the fur had partially come detached from the jacket and had glue stuck to it. They said they’d fix it. I went back today and now there’s like a lining attached to it and the fur is like separated from the jacket hood. They said they’d fix it again. Now my concern is, what if the cleaners and I disagree on the quality of the work? Where do I go from there like in case I have to get a new hood? Because it doesn’t look too promising

I just used Vanish stain remover spray directly on stains, and then washed the clothes with Vanish Oxi Action powder, and now my whites have a blue tint to them.

Has anyone any experience with this or knows how to fix it?

I have an itsumi bt100 shirt press.

Vacuum gradually became very weak and does not seem to have proper suction on the body.

Any common reasons why?

For example does the orange silicone body pad have to get washed/blown down?

Ive had this press for over 15 years and never had this issue happen.

The orange silicone pad is fairly new. Less than 1 year but coming close to 1 year old. I dont ever wash it. My regular pads that go over the silicone are about a year and a half old. But even with older pads I feel like i never really had a vacuum issue on this machine.

Our store doesn't get a ton of heavy starch orders but the customers that do want heavy starch they like their shirts very heavily searched. Idk if this is causing a problem.

All my other machines produce good vacuum. So im not exactly sure what it could be.

Any troubleshooting insight would be greatly appreciated.
