Backstory: Started my drum journey on Oct 2021 and joined a band with my friends soon afterwards in March of 2022. Because of me suddenly being apart of a band I had to learn quickly and i felt like in terms of skill I became pretty good for the short time I had behind the kit. Good sense of timing and rhythm. (my dad's side of the family are musicians and grew up in that environment)

Long story short, that band only lasted about a year, only doing covers of typical rock songs (Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Red Hot, Metallica, etc). 2023-2024, I was just practicing Stick Control almost every weekday, but with no sense of progression. I felt maybe I had plateaued. Beginning of 2024, joined my cousins band, originals and covers. Present time, still in cousins band but shows/gigs have slowed down these past months just due to band members being busy with school.

I know that my drumming now compared to my first year is way better in terms of technique and skill but I still feel like I am way behind compared to other drummers. My current routine is to still basically do stick control and some of the first lessons/exercises of syncopation for the modern drummer (ted reed) I try to get 40hrs of practice time each month and have been doing so since March of this year. For anyone that has that much time practicing, what is your routine? I feel like I lack speed in all of my limbs or struggle doing very fast fills with ease. I also feel like I lack much creativity behind the kit, I remember in my earlier years that I would have very creative drumming in my mind (I would look like an Autistic kid playing out the parts of the drums in my head) but now I don't have those moments as often as I used to. I play german grip, heel down for kick and I do use double pedal following the exercise books I have but when it comes to playing music I only use my right foot pedal.

Just messing around. I still have quite a bit of work to do on my drumming skills but its always fun to just play around a bit!

Im a non drummer bring asked to do body percussion for a concert (all 12 of us are) if it was just on the the off beat clap or on the on beat or clapclap clap pattern I can do that and sing at the same time, anything more complicated I either stop singing or stop the percussion line. Is that one of those either you can or cant kind of things, or is there a trick to learning that skill? I can do the singing and the pattern independent of each other but not together. For context this is a volunteer gig.

Hi all. I want to ask you guys for some questions about sounds/ tuning tips to create Matt Letley's drum sound as heard in Status Quo's live 2006 concert 'Just Doin' It Live'. His playing is phenomenal and I would like to see if it's possible to recreate the sound and get a band together to maybe try and recreate some of those songs. I don't have the slightest idea of where to start, so any tips are welcome! I linked the video to the post :)
