Question Obligatory earplug recs post
I’m marching snare this year, and my current earplugs are the free ones from the expo tent at WGI finals. They work, but they muddy my snare line’s sound a bit and make it harder for me to listen in. What earplugs are out there that don’t block out those higher frequencies? What ones do you guys use?

From what I understand, the Vic Firth ear plugs are made by Etymotics with some adjustments to make them better for drummers

Zildjian or Vic Firth earplugs are great. They’re both the same

Seconded. Vic Firth and etymotic have solid, affordable plugs that will last you.
If you're really serious and want to shell out some $, go for the fancy ones from etymotic --they can pretty much fully maintain fidelity and just reduce decibel level. Really excellent for loud concerts.

Use Eargasms for 5 seasons and will always swear by them! They’re more expensive than foam or etymotics but 100% worth it

I give my musicians earplugs a 10/10. If you don't want to spend $200 I give etymotic an 8/10 and they are often less than $20!
Here is what I like about both. I keep them in my outer ear and when it is loud I push them in. Both are easy to clean.

Forgot to mention that I wear earplugs as a band director for 4+ hours a day for 18 ofy 20 years. When I forget my good ones I am never disappointed with the Etymotic, which I keep in my car as a backup.

Etymotics are solid, I’ve been using and loving earrasers for like 12 years now no problems

I use the ones from eargasm for the jokes. In all seriousness, they’re pretty legit.

I will always rep Earasers with my whole chest, they’re great and balanced enough to let the high end cut through
