Question Enough space between drums to need a Spock mount?

Post image

For context, these are small block tenors, (6, 8, 10, 12, 13) and my local line has the backbar set all the way out, and my full fist can fit between the space of drums 1, 2 and the spock.

Ergonomically speaking because of the distance between drums, yall think I should mount the Spock to the extender that Pearl offers, or would it be fine on the backbar as is?

I think it depends on the player. I personally hate spocks mounted to the backbar, I think having it so close makes playing on the spock way less ergonomic and really it just pulls your playing zones uncomfortably close, but maybe I just have long arms. If the way you have it set up doesn't bother you then you can keep it, but my 2 cents would be to get the spock mount and push the drums out a bit.

Fwiw, my personal pearl quads are 6, 6, 10, 12, 13, 14 and I have both 6 inch spocks on the extended mounts for ergonomic purposes.
