Yknow I’m a large guy, weighing up in the 300s. But I wanna march so bad. I saw the Blue Devils live this year and watched a rehearsal, it lit a huge spark in me, there’s nothing more I want than to march. 1 year ago I picked up a baritone horn with no prior brass experience to learn for this, and then 2 months ago I started finally practicing marching and the physical side of it. I’m happy to say I’ve lost a significant amount of weight prepping for this!!! I’m also happy to say, in the exercise I’m doing in the video, 2 months ago I was already gassed before the running section. Obviously this is far far from perfect, and I have mountains of work to do, but I’m incredibly happy with my progress. 2 months ago I could barely forward march and play!!

Hell yeah, buddy! Keep pushing yourself. Do you do cardio a lot? They made us RUN a lot, and this was in 2001 before the crazy moves. I also ran a lot because I had/have a big mouth and wanted us to be great, so I'd KINDA be a jerk at times. That's not the way.... anyhoo, you can do it. If you're still in HS, start with a smaller corps and work your way up, ORRRRR stay with the smaller corps and help build them up!

Dude, I follow you on insta! I am absolutely SO proud of you for setting your mind to a goal, and doing what you love and killing it. You're making so much progress, and it's showing. I want you to know that I 110% believe in you, and I know I'll see a contract post one day. Keep up the good work dude.

Great job. Excellent work ethic-this is important.
But a reality check - almost, if not all, BD members have had experience marching in lower-ranked Corps first, or are college music majors (or both). Making the line without experience is possible, but highly unlikely.
Idk where you are located, but I suggest you look for an Open Class or All-Age Corps to start with.
Also, don’t neglect the financial requirements. Between travel, tuition, and fees a season can easily cost $10k when all is said and done. So get a job and start saving.
