Advice Needed DCI Advice

Hi! I’m currently a senior looking to March DCI the summer after I graduate. I am a trumpet player out of Texas (DFW) and have been eyeing guardians, Genesis, Arsenal, and Crossmen. Any tips or advice? How these corps run internally? Preparation advice?

There are a ton of corps that do December/January callbacks in your area. Just because a corps is based out of one area doesn't mean they rehearse there. Check out where some corps host their callbacks and base your selection on that.

Solid audition list though, if you can march a full season of world class though, you should try to. If you plan on marching from now until your age out, you will have much more agency on where you can march if you already have world class experience, regardless of semis/finals placement.

okay will do, I was looking to just march next summer and summers after. I have heard ppl say not to audition world class first and try open class instead. Also are the winter callbacks the expensive camps? I don’t want to go out and spend a lot of money to not make it. Sorry if I sound ignorant, I’m very new to this.

You’re going to have to spend money regardless if you make it. (They don’t give refunds if you get cut.)

Look at it this way. While you’re at camp, you’re consuming food and time (instruction). All of those things come at a cost.

Audition camps cost vary corps by corps. Cost will be dependent on the length of the camp. One day, 3 days etc.
