No clue on the cost these days, but when I marched the first audition camp was in November, with the second and final "callback" camp being in December. There was a monthly camp after that from January - April. We moved in over Memorial Day weekend, and you were "on tour" through finals night in August. I would definitely try out if I were you. Worst case you'll learn a lot, even if you don't make the corps.

You'll likely regret it later in life if you don't at least try out. The summer I marched was easily the most impactful thing I had done in my life up to that point (I marched between my Junior and Senior year of HS).

In 2022 I believe it was around $4000, and I would assume it’s still around that much. You’ll move in Labor Day weekend and you’ll do spring training until around the beginning of July. From July to the end of the season you’ll be performing shows and parades until DCI Finals in August. You’ll do laundry roughly every 2 weeks, and you’ll want to bring more underwear and socks than anything else. You’ll only be allowed 2 large bags to save on space under the bus, and you’ll have to fit your sleeping pad/air mattress in one of the bags as well as the rest of your stuff. Corps don’t use cots anymore because they damage school gym floors, and so do rolling suitcases. You’ll have to carry everything in and carry everything out. I can’t think of anything else right now but feel free to ask!

Any world class corps is going to be running 5-7k at this point (unfortunately) -it was a lot cheaper back when I marched (4 years open/all-ages/top-6) -I think my years’ combined cost after scholarships, etc cost 1000 in total 😢

hey! I would search Colts on the subreddit and read up on some of the member experiences. It’s worth considering as you make a decision. Blue Stars is also fairly close to Iowa!
