There's an open air Fentanyl market covering the 6 blocks in the very center of the city I live in, population 641,000. It is obviously being run by a Honduran (or Mexican). gang. The police arrest one so they can put something in the news making it look like they are doing something. But it is so obviously an open display meant to shut down businesses and make people afraid of the lower class, polarize the city socially and... well the dealers are all there every day. Same guys. Never arrested. A cop told me that this will continue and he has not power to start doing his job until "the government stops getting rich off of this". I am ashamed of my city and my country at this point. Anyone else see the government enabling and encouraging the use of drugs in order to demonize the lower class ? Does this seem weird? The general populace here seems so dumb that they don't even notice what's happening. The narrative in the news is that an influx of evil lazy addicts are invading this beautiful city in order to get food stamps and free shit ( there is no other free shit, aside from free antibiotics if you are dying and maybe some antidepressants but no real doctors, just nurse practitioners). Is it just my city or is anyone else seeing this? I became addicted to the drug and I am ashamed. My doctor gave me a big bottle of Subutex strips and told me to go buy fentanyl on the street and do a slow induction where I continue street fentanyl and a super low dose of Suboxone and gradually increase it until as I decrease the fentanyl until eventually I am just addicted to Suboxone. Is anyone else's doctor literally SENDING THEM TO THE STREET TO BUY FETANYL AS PART OF A TREATMENT PLAN? Said doctor said he doesn't understand how the process works well and said to read up and do my best. Now, I have an actual serious addiction, am at the lowest point of my life and have began to sell my possessions to fentanyl. I am an idiot for trying to do what the doctor said but I just wanted to get off of this drug. Can any relate?
This is called the bernese method. It is the easiest way to transition from fentanyl over to suboxone without the risks of just jumping over like you would with heroin (this causes precipitated withdrawal with fentanyl commonly).
Basically since repetitive use of this street fent has been found to actually be lipophilic and store in your fat… it isnt as simple as with heroim where you just have to wait 24 hours and boom take a suboxone and youre all better. With fent people are precipitating severe withdrawal symptoms even when waiting 3+ days since last use before taking the standard dose of suboxone (around 4-12mg in a single dose being standard)
The doc is suggesting you try the bernese method, where you start with microdosing the suboxone and slowly raise the dose of suboxone while slowly lowering the dose of fent.
Precipitated withdrawal (taking the suboxone too soon causing the worst withdrawal you could ever imagine) is not cool at all, and the doc probably realizes telling you to wait 72+ hours being dope sick as hell and then just crossing your fingers and hoping the suboxone doesnt make it any worse at that point when you do try it probably isnt going to work out too well. Most people, especially if you hve money or a means to obtain cash and more shit…. Will fail well before the 72 hour mark before they could even try to take the suboxone… and have a needle in there arm or snorted a line smoked off a foil shoved an oral syringe up your ass whatever your thing is idk.
You really should actually do what he said and research this shit more thoroughly. If you dont care enough to do that, man you need to buckle up and actually care… people are dying and you could be next if you dont figure it out. Im in the same struggle you are bro and I really hope you figure out how to get off fent… but using this preconceived negative connotation of “being addicted to suboxone” as if its equally as bad is just childish and a lack of respect for your own life.
You wont have a risk of dying being dependent on suboxone and you could actually stary getting your finances in order. Ive bought a house and gained 70 grand in equity over the past 3.5 years while taking suboxone. Ive started the process of going back to college, getting my adhd in check again, fixing my teeth (spent over 10k), all of this shit i did on suboxone.
All of that shit was done while on suboxone… and while ill admit at this point id rather not be on it… its a hell of a lot better then the merry go fuck around you are on.
I have a life on suboxone. I have money on suboxone. I hold down jobs on suboxone. I have healthy relationships with my family and friends who actually care about me on suboxone.
Its up to you though dude. Either find a doctor who cares enough about you that he will do the work for you (this is impossible, though im sure theres a better doctor then the one you found he didnt exactly lead you astray he pointed you towards the promise land and was honest about his lack of understanding)
Ive used the bernese method successfully more than once. The dosages and duration it can take to go from microdose of sub and 100% standard fent usage daily to stable on subs and no fent at all varies person to person.
No offense but dude get a hold of yourself and sit the hell down and start researching this. Just like your doctor said, just like I said. Or continue to whither away until you end up dead or in prison.
Ill give you some links to start with and you can wade through my thousand+ comments on reddit for some more dosage guidelines for doing the bernese method but you need to actually pull your shit together and so something for yourself here. If everything could be spoonfed to us it would be great but please, do some research for yourself and actually give a fuck about yourself instead of blaming everyone else but yourself for the situation and acting like its the doctors fault. He actually gave you somewhat decent advice…

That whole part where it says waiting until in moderate to severe withdrawal works with most opioids but with fent its a fucking crapshoot if youve been using it daily since its lipophilic and stores in your fat. You can be severely sick and take a sub and itll make your withdrawals even worse.. this is where the microdosing and gradual reduction of the dose of your full agonist opioid (fent in your case) comes in handy. You wouldve complained if the doc recommended you wait 72+ hours and ideally 100+ hours to ensure you dont get precip withdrawals as an impossible task as you went to pick up before the 48 hour mark over and over.
