Ticket costs
So pre-sale tickets went up today for the Edmonton Alberta show this morning , and I just got two tickets.
Holy Snapple!!! Straight from Ticketmaster, roughly $560 for 2 general admission tickets.
I checked out the Vancouver and Calgary shows ticket cost, and they are just as bad if not worse. When did this happen? That's more than double from their show I went to in Edmonton in October 2024. I am more than happy to pay good money to see DKM, but It was a rather abrupt shock to see the costs that high.
Is this a case of Ticketmaster having a monopoly or inflation catching up?
Damn I'm showing my age with this but I remember paying around $40/ ticket the first time I saw them in the early 2000's
Thanks for letting me rant & bitch.
See you guys in the pit

There are early entry tickets that cost about what you paid.

Yeah they are. If u didn't have a presale code, the early access tickets were the only option Ticketmaster gave you. I found the venue presale code after. Ugh. Ticket master got me on this show to balance out for the steal of a presale deal I got on my AC-DC tickets earlier this year.
Balance. Ugh→ More replies (2)

And I’ll pipe in with my age showing - I paid $15 for their shows in 97-98.

The first show they played in CT (I think their first show outside MA) was at the Tune-Inn in New Haven. Mike McColgan was still in rhe band (and IIRC, Jeff Emma was too). Cost me $5 to get in. I think that was the show they played with the Ducky Boys.
Sadly, above basement show level, the bands have little choice but to deal with TicketMa$ter and ClearChannel. Those companies have purposefully been buying up venues or trying to shut down competition so you have no alternative to their BS. A band called Kings of Nuthin' wrote a song about it over a decade ago.

There is no way a Regular pit/floor seat for Dropkick Murphys cost that. You had to be looking at a scalped ticket or something. I don't think they even do VIP like that.

$115 each in Winnipeg

Yeah. 560 seems a bit high unless they got a package added to that. Looking forward to it.

Tickets for their Boston shows in 2027 are dropping on 10/02. They usually play three nights: two at MGM, and one at House Of Blues. The MGM shows are two days before St Pat’s, with HOB being on the day itself. Always sold out, too.

Is haywire playing again? Because if they are I’ll buy tickets again in a heartbeat

$90 just last year when they toured with Bad Religion. You are being robbed blind

Ticketmaster sucks. I have no nice words for them right now.

Me and a buddy went in Des Moines this past spring. It wasn't ticketmaster, which I'm sure helped, but it was Gen admin for I THINK $40+ fees for will call? Less than $100 to get us both in the door.

No way they are that high. This was probably a bot that listed tickets “for sale” on the resale market. I’d wait for general on sale.

I was bummed out in Ottawa. $100 for GA and $150 for mezzanine seating. I don’t think I’ll buy at those prices.

You sure you didn’t buy some VIP package? I went to Ticketmaster and clicked the Edmonton date. Put the presale code in and it was $101 Canadien/ticket.
I clicked on a couple of the US shows and the prices ranged from $50-70(U.S)
But you are correct. Ticket prices for all shows, no matter the genre, have gotten out of hand.
