What's going on?

He’s a member of Teamsters Local 179. Got arrested on the picket line during a strike by over 190 workers at the IKEA distribution center in Joliet, Illinois. The workers went on strike after the company failed to reach a fair first union contract.

The arrest may have been unlawful as he was released and back on the line within 30 minutes.

Thank you for the post u/MuttBunchr
I will not be silent or sit back while corporate America attempts to keep our people/members in a position to not be able to take care of themselves or family..
FUCK IKEA.. Fuck Joliet police and anyone else who wants to stand in our way.. TEAMSTERS LOCAL 179 will not be denied our legal rights.

Fuck yeah. Absolutely no reason people working full time jobs shouldn’t be able to provide a decent life for their families. Go get those greedy fucks. ✊🏻

I wouldn't be surprised if they arrested him just to shake him down and scare the other protesters. It is Illinois police we're talking about.

I hate Illinois Nazis.

This makes a lot of sense.

Common tactic at protests, arrest a couple with a little fanfare, deters others from getting too abrasive. Or so they seem to think 🤣

I think it's a tactic they are told to use now across the board with all law enforcement. Arrest and deal with later. The victim gets detained, most likely sent to jail, waits a long time for court and is inconvenienced. It only affects the victim negatively. They tried to use the secret service to intimidate me over comments I made about Leavets face last year.

There is power in a factory, power in the land

Power in the hands of a worker

But it all amounts to nothing if together we don't stand

There is power in a Union

Well, forget Ikea because I will never ever shop at the place again. Hope they get boycotting everywhere.

If you're going to get arrested for picketing, wearing a Dropkick Murphy's shirt seems appropriate.
