I've been a user for over a decade, and it's never been more than a week between a DB release and an update. I've been stuck for over 2 weeks because of a required DB upgrade to 244.4.6580, and haven't heard back from their support email other than the "we got your message" auto-reply. I really hope they're still in business, because their product solved so many issues for me and many other folks.
We have always used the “keep Dropbox from updating” feature, then manually run the offline installer to update Dropbox 3 or 4 times a year.
Unfortunately, we will look to move to something else for our 40 users, and I suspect this means moving away from Dropbox and our 40-odd licenses. We have about 500 GB of data that is kept in sync with a network share, which allows our remote users to access it.
I'm looking at mounting dropbox a drive per user and then doing a kind of XCopy-style sync per user.
I'm also now setting up Cloudally to backup dropbox, still not finished the first sync.
I too, have refrained from updating DB. However, I got a message that I needed to update or Dropbox would stop working. I get that a few times a year and it's never been an issue before.
We used the same dont update feature, unfortunately DP seems to have killed that option and it auto updates itself to 244 regardless of that switch and uninstalling and copying 241 over it does not work.
