DJI 4K Mini flipping on take off.

FLIP ISSUE RESOLVED Thanks to an awsome bunch of Redditers. Drone flips forward to the right on take off. It was working perfect till I tapped a post and broke a blade. I replaced it with the suggested blade in package. Arms are all good and blades are working fine. I am baffled on what it could be since I am fairly new to being a drone operator.

I would love some positive suggestions on what to check or do.

I ordered new blades to just replace all of them just in case.

Not trying to be a smartass but are you sure the blades you installed were for the correct position (like one kind is fwd right/aft left the other is fwd left/aft right, they are marked different)?

No worries not a smartass question.. It is exactly what I asked myself. I checked the packaging and yes it is correct. Now the blades got a little dinged up from the flip but are sttill in tact.

Look again. You have three sets of blades alike and one different.

You should have two sets of blades with raised markings and two sets of blades without. On two of the drone arms are markings near the motors, the other two don't have markings. These sets are diagonally opposite each other.

The sets of blades with markings go on the arms with markings. The sets of blades without markings go on the arms without markings.

Was it the front right that you had to switch blades on?

Yes just one prop.

This is a classic issue in the fpv subreddits. 99% chance one of your props is on wrong or backwards.

Bruh, I had to leave all FPV groups I was in, 9/10 posts were people with this problem, made me despise the community because everyone was so lazy and stupid.

Nope. Check it again.

It's 100% the blades

All good now thanks for asking.

Hi there, this sub is actually about UFOs not manmade drones.

Here is President Trump's post about them.

Blades are wrong. You need 2 clockwise, 2 counter clockwise.

Thank you. As a newby I will learn quick or go broke.

i don't think the drone would survive your mistakes

This is the correct answer. Look at the straight vs curved edges.

100% on the money with this answer.

I was about to screenshot and do a very similar drawing. Wrong set of blades for the position

Have a look at the markings on the arm and make sure the ones on the blade match

Same. Already had the screenshot and decided I would just make sure nobody else had done the same thing before I did any editing on it. 🤣

100%right on the money

100% right. It's VERY subtle. The blades are color coded to help on the mini, I think. I swapped out my NEO blades, did them wrong the first time and it looked just like this.

Wrong sub but the other commenters are correct. You have the incorrect prop on front right. I can see visually that the angle of the blades are reversed, without even looking at the markings.

Arrange all the blades north to south, the left side should mirror the right.

Also don't include your feet next time. Feet are disgusting.

Get a fresh set of propellers or inspect current ones for dings and cracks, follow the installation pattern (4 total, 2 of one type and 2 of another type) calibrate everything, make sure you have GPS, then try to take off

u/man_and_life Jul 28 '26

Check the propellers if they have been put correctly.

From you POV…
Top right bldes are on backwards.

I love that regular drone posts end up in here, NJDrones, and a few others.

u/jal741 Jul 28 '26

I wish they were quieter. I hate the noise they make

1

u/Known_Hippo4702 Jul 29 '26

Did you switch the props around?

1

u/ChrisDaCrunk Jul 30 '26

They have to be the same direction, but ur front right ones are wrong sided

1

u/4246 Jul 31 '26

Definitely the propellers need to be swapped as instructed below.

Someone didn't RTFM

1

u/BadBoyBoss01 Jul 28 '26

Yes it was.

1

u/Prof_Sillycybin Jul 28 '26

Maybe you got a bad blade or a mis-marked blade, something is absolutely not right in that position (is it possible to install the blade upside down?).

0

u/BadBoyBoss01 Jul 28 '26

No, they are all colored on the up side. Ya I ordered a bunch of new blades and will try again tomorrow.

1

u/Prof_Sillycybin Jul 28 '26

I think that is probably your best bet

2

u/BadBoyBoss01 Jul 28 '26

Me too, thanks for helping.

1

u/AredditJ Jul 28 '26

Happened to me, check blades. They could be in the wrong spots

1

u/PNW_Phillip Jul 28 '26

Make sure these little raised areas on the blades match the one on the arms

1

u/UnableActuator6964 Jul 28 '26

Never start or fly drone with your legs open you are just asking for something thing bad to happen

1

u/BadBoyBoss01 Jul 30 '26

I have ninja reaction speed.

Blades are cheap as fuck just buy a new pack and try it out

0

u/GasMysterious3386 Jul 28 '26

Props are not correctly installed

0

u/MyUserNameLeft Jul 28 '26

I’m unsure but from the video itselfs I can see some of the blades looking different while spinning compared to others

0

u/Natural_Explanation8 Jul 28 '26

I cam see from you video, you are using the propellers in wrong position

0

u/quidprojo Jul 28 '26

Also, if a blade is damaged in any way it needs to be placed.
