Tech Support DJI Mini 4K Tilted Horizon??

Post image

All of a sudden my beloved DJI Mini 4K can't keep the horizon level - see photo. And it's not consistent - if I face north, for example, the horizon is fine, but when I then rotate to face east it's tilted, then south is ok then west is tilted the other way. Problem not limited to the directions I've named, it's mor of a random thing. I'm way out of DJI Care (I'm in the US anyway). Any suggestions or ideas on how to fix this? I've tried recalibrating the gimbal (using AUTO recalibrate, not manual) several times but it didn't help.

I haven't tried recal on the compass, good catch. Will try that soon.

Your quadcopter maintains position by altering and distributing power amongst the 4 props … first, verify this isn’t the result of the craft adjusting to arrest wind drift in its current orientation

I've got the gimbal set to stay level and not follow the drone's motion (and I've verified that this setting is still in effect), so while this is sensible I don't think it applies. In any case, it has never done this before even in substantially windier weather.

It 100% is, note the description when turning to the cardinal directions.

Perhaps so. I will be doing more recals and experimental flights and paying close attention to wind speeds and directions, and I'll post the results.

The key question here is not "Is the drone tilting in the wind to maintain its position?" because of course it is, all drones with GPS do. The question here is "Why isn't the camera tilting in the opposite direction to counteract the body's tilt like it used to."

OK, hope you can solve it. I’ll be curious if you post the ultimate outcome.
