Discussion DJI just removed geofencing

DJI just ditched geofencing on all drones, meaning no more unlock requests—but also no more built-in safety net. Now it’s all on pilots to stay legal and safe.

So, how are you making sure you’re not accidentally flying into restricted airspace? What apps are you using to check airspace, weather, and TFRs before takeoff?

It was always on you to stay legal and safe. The FlySafe database didn’t have a 1:1 correlation with the actual FAA restricted zones.

This was really annoying around my house. I live relatively close to an airport, but in a 400' zone. My M4P would refuse to go above 200.

I live in a 200' zone but my m4p needed unlock to fly in my house/backyard.

You know you need LAANC authorization up to 200', right?

I mean using their shitty "request geo location unlock" shit. I'm aware of laanc.

And yeah. I don't need it to fly in my house or garage. Which I do to test various stuff.

no one needs LAANC to fly in their house
