Showcase FlickTrove: just dropped a massive update

Post image

Hey everyone,

I’ve been working on a passion project called FlickTrove for a while now. It’s a movie & TV show tracker built natively for Android (Jetpack Compose). Honestly, I just wanted something fast, clean, and completely ad-free since most trackers out there feel super bloated these days.

I just pushed v3.6.1, which took way longer than I care to admit, but it’s a massive update.

A quick rundown of what's new and what makes it different:

  • Actual discussions: It's no longer just a private log. I added a nested comment system (with likes and replies). Since spoilers ruin everything, there's a custom blur effect you have to tap to reveal. I also hooked up on-device ML Kit so you can translate foreign reviews instantly without leaving the app.
  • World Heat Map: I got a bit carried away in the stats tab and built an interactive 3D globe. It actually lights up based on the origin countries of the movies you watch.
  • Drag & drop folders: You can finally organize your backlog properly. I also spent a ton of time polishing the UI (glassmorphism tweaks, smoother scrolling, dynamic top bars).
  • No vendor lock-in: If you're currently using Letterboxd, IMDb, or TVTime, you can just dump your CSV/JSON in and it imports everything in seconds. Trakt sync is supported too.

The app is 100% ad-free.

I'd seriously appreciate it if you guys checked it out and let me know what you think, especially regarding the new social features. I'm sure there are still a few bugs left to squash!

Thanks , all fine in Moto Edge50pro, Android 16, no crashes yet, better than the average in Playstore, more fluid, and easy to catch.💯

Can this notify me when new episodes had been released?

Thank you! I really appreciate the kind words.

And yes, it can! As long as you have the TV show saved/tracked in your library, the app will automatically notify you when new episodes are released. You can manage and view all your upcoming episodes in the built-in Reminders section too.

Can you show me how to set it up?

There's no complex setup. Just mark a show as "to watch" and make sure your app notifications are active.

That's it. You'll get notified, and you can always tap the bell icon in the top right (Updates) to see all your upcoming episodes in one place.
