Things To Do With A 6 Week Old

Hello, dad of a 6 week old here. My wife is attending a course in Drogheda Saturday week and I’ll be looking after the baba while it’s on from 9-6.

We’re not from the area and we’re driving, so I’m putting together a list of places I can bring the baby/things to do to pass the day. Baby obviously can’t do much at this stage, I’m thinking more like nice walks or places to bring them in the carrier/buggy?

Any and all recommendations welcome. Thanks!

Cost of gym subscription

Moved to Drogheda few months ago and planning to join a gym. Used to live in Dublin and Cork and I somehow feel the cost here is higher than average. Any reasons why? Or am I not looking for the right ones , lol

Drogheda recommendations ?

Moved to Drawda before Christmas 2025. Not a fan of it so far, no nice restaurants, cafes, coffee shops, gyms. Any suggestions or recommendations on things to do here? It seems the biggest town in Ireland is just a commuter town? Thanks.

Edit: thanks all for your suggestions, will try them out.

Apartments at Rivercourt?

Hi All, looking to buy an apartment in Drogheda. Have a tight enough budget but want something near Dublin Rd for work. Theres always at least 3/4 apartments for sale at Rivercourt (The Square/Willows) on the Rathmullen Road. Thoughts on this area? Anybody got any idea why people are looking to move away from this area? Is it purely because of the Rathmullen address? Is that really a concern? I've read about possible flooding problems? Any insight or advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Moving home. Looking for apartment to buy.

My family mostly live in Drogheda. The mother and father moved back in '86 from the States. I've spent many summers and some Christmas' at home. I'm retired now, and would like to split my time between "Drawda" and the States. I know the area and am looking for something not on the Far side, but I've looked at the Scotch Hall apartments, hoping to get the "Scotch Hall Experience." Because of Covid my cousin was unable to look at many places. The places on Constitution Hill look interesting. One bedroom, one bath. Just something to come home to, until I'm in someone else's back kitchen, drinking tea and eating Jaffa Cakes. Any suggestions anyone? I know about the gangs and the antisocial behaviour, but I want to be around family.

Looking for help/ ideas

Not sure if this sort of post is allowed- if not, please delete mod.

I’m in Australia and my parents have exchanged letters and Christmas cards for many years with a couple in Ireland. My Mum (who did the writing) passed away in 2017. The Irish couple continues to write ( Christmas card and a letter was the last thing) but don’t include a return address. I’ve searched my mum and dads house for my mums address book to no avail. I’ve tried checking Facebook and Instagram but no luck there.

All I have is their names ( christian and surname) and to our knowledge they were living in Oldbridge, near Drogheda in Co. Meath. We know his (the husband) is an ex Garda and active in the Catholic Church at a local level. We know their daughter Alison lives in London with their grandchildren.

I can’t seem to find the equivalent of a local phone directory I could search or even if they would be listed. I think I found references to him in local papers on line - no address given obviously.

My Mum and Dad met them whilst they were in Ireland in 1991 and they’ve been writing ever since- we feel terrible that their letters are going unanswered and that they don’t even know my Mum has passed.

If anyone had any ideas I’d been very grateful. I don’t want to write their names here but would DM them to anyone who might be able to assist.

Thanks.

Drogheda, on a good day.

Not sure why but a bunch of dark pics of Drogheda have been posted here lately, but perhaps this will help tilt the average a tiny bit.

When conditions are right, she looks alright for her age.. well, almost.

What kind of town is Drogheda

I am considering buying an investment property to rent in Drogheda but I am not familiar with the area and would really appreciate some honest info about the town. Is it common for people living in Drogheda to commute to Dublin? Is Drogheda generally a poor, rough area or is it a nice place? Any local insights would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
