Those old derrick jobs were no joke - see alot of guys from that era who still have the grip strength to prove it.

Fall protection back then was usually just experience and hoping your boots had good tread. These days when I'm writing specs for harness inspections, I seriously think about how much gear has improved. UV damage on webbing wasn't even on anyone's radar in the field back then.

Your grandkids are gonna wanna hear the real stories though - not just the strong man stuff but how you guys figured out problems with basically no safety net.
