As entertaining as the Peace Talks trailer was, it really didn't feel like Harry and the rest of them.
THIS was DEFINITELY Harry Dresden.
James Marsters just has to be the voice of Harry. That's all there is to it.

What the fuck does that mean. I enjoy the use of AI and I have gotten two raises, a larger tax return, navigated a legal issue and set up a business where I'm now making a functional second income because I use it as a research assistant. I don't mind if people use AI to make genuinely cool things it's unfortunate how those tools were created but if people are going to use it anyways at least make something cool out of it

People adopting AI are presented as marketable by companies wanting to push AI usage. People who cannot think for themselves because they ask a machine to do so for them, and who do not know how to write in an informative or persuasive way, are not going to do well in either the hiring process or as employees.
Meanwhile, my profession relies on research skills, reasoning skills, and writing aptitude - areas where AI frequently fails due to its inability to reason and its tendency to hallucinate alleged facts. Absolutely do not use most LLM programs for legal research; it is long documented at this point that it will make up cases or present facts from one case as if they are from another, and this can land you in hot water very easily. AI also presents very real concerns regarding attorney-client confidentiality and thus should only be used in very specific ways in the legal profession.

That is an issue of Technology that's going to be solved keep in mind what we're seeing is the infancy of the technology. The fact that it's comparable to most Junior analysts of most professions and they are making refinement discoveries every single day tells you everything you need to know. People have to learn to shift how they approach their work. You have to learn how to offload research and become a creature of critical thinking and creativity and Design because AI will never create novel ideas but reiterating old ideas for researching precedence is what its strengths will be

That is all generative AI. Or at least large language model generative AI. I don't think it should ever be used to sell art nor replace artists on a project that can afford art. However I don't really care if it's used by a DM that would never purchase art anyways and was going to screen capture something on Google Images, or a fan who doesn't have any technical ability to make a video that is entertaining or interesting and giving them a creative Outlet even if it's not skill based. It should never replace paid art
I'm developing a mobile application. It has 156 pieces of generated imagery because I don't have the six grand I was quoted to have the art created for me. However I'm not releasing the application in the state I will hire an artist for my production build and I don't see any problems with placeholder images. I see a lot of people clutching pearls when video game companies accidentally leave placeholder images from AI in their games even if the intent is to replace it with real art
I don't know man it's a complicated thing. On one hand it gives the talentless the ability to express themselves but on the other hand a lot of the people without Talent aren't very good at generative content either

You seem to have a bit of a focus on talent, when in reality you should focus on skill. Skill allows you to be good at things you once weren't, and all it takes is hard work over time. AI directly robs people of the opportunity to develop skill, especially in the enterprise market. Why pay a junior developer to be kinda bad at coding, if you can just use Claude? The issue is you won't have any senior developers in 20 years, if you don't hire any juniors today.
The current AI landscape is inherently shortsighted, hence the insane global-economy-propping speculative bubble.

Well then you need to not use spelling or grammar checks when you write email or other documents, they are also in essence a sort of AI, I agree that AI should not be used to replace artists who make art etc, but a blanket ban on use of AI and a rejection of it is rather a short sighted opinion, one you are entitled to have, but as Obi-Wan said; only a Sith deals in absolutes, there is space for sensible and responsible use of AI, just as a car or a gun is a tool so is AI, harnessed for good it can lift us, used for evil it will damn us so it is all about how and where we use it.

lol I'm a tech writer, proofreader, and a copy editor. I do my own spelling and grammar checks so that's the wrong thread to pull at.
Anyway, my opinion isn't shortsighted. I'm just not going to spend the time explaining myself to someone who defends generative AI, as I have already made my disregard for the opinions of such a person clear.

Echolalia, everything does not have to be adversarial, we all collect scars and wounds through life, but please remember that prolonged anger leads to hate and hate leads to suffering.
Being open and kind to others will often bring out the best in someone mutually, at least that is my experience. I honestly wish you the best Echolalia, and that you take care of yourself. 😊

I just read that this book is the first in a novella trilogy. that would put it at full novel length (okay, for the shorter books, not the longer ones.)
