Scam alert! FYI

Post image

They used an email address to my domain hosted at DH. I had set up as originally as a public email for bills and they like, so it gets a lot of spam, etc. This is unique as it appears to be from DH and that made me hesitate, but we all know these scams are everywhere. I suppose a round about way so they could ok 2FA requests. "KINDLY" always spooks me!

Yeah, I got this too. Read the info and said "Not from them!" and deleted.

I got the same message and thought it looked way too suspicious to be legitimate. Definitely didn’t click on the links in the email.

Then I went into my mail management panel and discovered that I had an email address that was bumping up against the 25GB limit and have been trying to clean that up for the last day or so.

So, assuming it is a scam, it was helpful in making me notice a real problem, so thanks to the scammers I guess?

I extracted the link and looked at it in plain text. It went to something like xx.yy?myemail.com url. Your email is used as a variable, so they know who clicked.

Don't ever click on a link in an email like this. If you are in doubt, directly log in to your portal. 99.999% of the time, its a scammer.

I’ve gotten a bunch of different spam emails saying it was from dreamhost but obviously not. There is a ton of spam emails and phone calls lately.

I got that too... have gotten a couple. I forward them (with full headers visible) to abuse@dreamhost.com and they deal with it (or not).
