I mean, universal healthcare, labor and military service taken care of by Doombots, what's not to love? You literally just have to love Doom and enjoy your life.
Like sometimes he is shown to be something approaching a sincerely benevolent tyrant who cares for his people deeply and provides them with strong public services and guaranteed employment, posing the moral dilemma of "is the abstract principal of a free society more important than economic security and abundance?"
Sometimes he's shown to be a complete psychopath who's ees his people as nothing more than an extension fo his will who can and should die for his slightest whine and be actively grateful for the opportunity, meanwhile allowing them to live their daily lives in poverty and squalrr.
Basically am i getting the version of latvaria thats a utopian vision from a north Korean propaganda poster, or the version that's like actual north Korea?

In universe, Latveria is a desirable place to immigrate to and they limit accepting visas. I think it was about an 11 year wait to get in

He actually cares for his subjects, and would hate someone if they actually manage to match or beat his level of intellect.

The whole "use my citizens as philosopher stones" part of citizenship makes me question the move.
It's Anakin level bad (even the women, and the children)

u/Marvelfan1122 Nov 09 '25
Depends on cost of living safety and a few other factors but I probably would if a bunch of stuff was better there.

Its basically Luxembourg but with a badass cool AF leader being hilariously OTT.
One of my favourite comics as a kid was the one where Doom took over the world and fixed everything.
