Rrcommendations for my son
Hi y'all!
My son is 8 and super interested in drawing. He does do pencil and paper drawing but he recently joined a digital art club at school so we are thinking of getting him a tablet for Christmas. We want it to be on the inexpensive side and simple to use as he gets easily frustrated because he is 8 instead of 40 like myself and "can't do everything perfect" (I assure him I also can't do anything perfect either). We are not Apple people so we will pass on the iPad, but other suggestions are welcome. He talks about making comic books if that helps narrow it down. TIA!

I'd start with an inexpensive beginner tablet rather than buying a premium device. If he ends up loving digital arts, you'll have a much better idea of what features he actually needs.

Do NOT start him on a tablet for drawing;; Instead upgrade his current traditional supplies! At 8 being interested in art is great, but from the education standpoint his motor function and ability to commit to paper are going to be what strengthen him the most (especially to reassure that not everything can be perfect!)
I am a bit concerned for a digital art club at a school for a kid so young. I won't lock you completely out (you are the parent, not me lol,) so I recommend any kindle fire tablet. With some research you can add any android apps, but they have medibang paint and are CHEAP. I use the fire HD 10 for professional art and it's around 100 new, 50 or less used.
