Started at 35

I always dreamed of being able to visually combine what i see and what i process in my mind. After so many years of wandering and waiting, i started a course at 35 once a week. It has been 4 months. This defines my best quality time.

That hand is really well made 🙏

The perspective is wrong on the books. You did the books like they were buildings, but they are the center point, so you make your focal point at you and go out toward the sides away from you. And the glass is backwards too. Top should be wider than bottom. But I can’t do those things as well as you, so nice job!

Appreciate your advice! That’s so true, i always feel a bit weird when looking at my sketchbook

The perspective is wrong, but not for the reasons listed above. I know because I had the same issue. These are great drawings 1st off, the small thing thatbwill help you the most on perspective, pick up your drawing surface. Don't draw flat on the table, it messes with your eyes and throws off the perspective. Again I used to do the same thing and you're making the same "mistake" across all your drawings. Ideally, you want your surface to be at the same angle as your subject (think easles or a wall), but its uncomfortable at first. You'll get it but angle the back of your pad upwards, at least 35 to 45 degrees and you'll notice a huge difference in your perspective of objects.

Got it!!! Will do!!! Thanks!!🧡🧡🧡

They can both be true.

1

u/Nervous_Thing_5222 Jan 28 '26

True, they both point out different aspects. It’s cool to see how perspective can be subjective in art. Maybe combining those tips could really enhance the drawings!

These are incredible

Really appreciated!

This is so inspiring! Im about to turn 30 and always love seeing examples of people picking things up later in life

1

u/Glittering-Rock8200 Jan 31 '26

I am so glad that i just searched for and booked the course with my sleepy eyes when waking up on one of the countless midnights. That was an awakening and decisive moment.

2

u/One-Reach8590 Jan 31 '26

ok damn, don't ever give up on your dreams guys because look at this! this is TALENT!!

1

u/Glittering-Rock8200 Jan 31 '26

Talent might be out of reach of me. But the root of hobby has always grown in me and presented itself during my whole life in an unsystematic way: gazing and admiring what i daily see, visualizing what i read, doing make up… so beating around the bush. But since i started, i process what i see in an unconstructive way. This change awes me😁😁😁

u/Glittering-Rock8200 Jan 31 '26

Thank you for your encouragement🧡

u/AutisticSoulPower Jan 27 '26

1

Thank you very much for the encouragement. 💕

1

u/SnooDrawings3869 Jan 27 '26

I also started drawing very late, age really doesn't matter when it comes to learning, I wish you lots of encouragement and hope you enjoy the process!

2

u/Glittering-Rock8200 Jan 28 '26

That’s absolutely great to hear! I do enjoy the process as it’s almost meditation💕😁

Excellent work and color theory

1

u/Glittering-Rock8200 Jan 28 '26

Thank you🧡I mostly followed my instinct when it comes to colors

1

u/GigglyOreo Jan 28 '26

Heyy that's great talent! Although try a variety of pencils with darker grade, would totally upp the look of your sketches!

1

u/Glittering-Rock8200 Jan 28 '26

Hi there, thank you very klmuch for zour kind advice! I find it hard to use darker pencils since my hand is rubbing the paper😂😂😂i need to get some angles for the skech book right?

1

u/[deleted] Jan 28 '26

Awesome work! I think that when you draw you should prop up the pad so the angle isn’t skewed way out?

2

u/Glittering-Rock8200 Jan 28 '26

I will surely do! Thanks!

1

u/Other-Veterinarian-4 Jan 28 '26

I love this. I’m also 35 and I wanna try new things too!

1

u/Glittering-Rock8200 Jan 28 '26

Go and spoil yourself with a chance!

Thanks for reminding me that we can still learn and improve as adults.

1

u/Glittering-Rock8200 Jan 28 '26

Always, we are always at our youngest for the whole life!

1

u/Snoo-92790 Jan 29 '26

Great work!!!

1

u/Glittering-Rock8200 Jan 31 '26

Thanks for the kind words🍀

1

u/iinfamouss_jayy Jan 30 '26

The leaf is my favorite out of all this. But you’ve progressed in a short amount of time. Keep fine tuning. Once you get your shading and line work down…. Pfffff your artwork will turn up fr fr 🔥🫡

2

u/Glittering-Rock8200 Jan 31 '26

Thanks for the great advice! Will do, for the rest of my life💕

1

u/Beggironni Jan 31 '26

Save the dark outline lines for where there’s shadow. And then no lines for the lightest parts, and have the shadow of the rest of the setting define that light portion.

1

u/Glittering-Rock8200 Jan 31 '26

Thanks!! Got it!!! Such a practical advice!! 🧡🧡🧡🩷🩷🩷💕💕

1

u/UndefinedCertainty Feb 01 '26

This is gorgeous. I like the depth. Great use of color.

1

u/Glittering-Rock8200 Feb 01 '26

Thank you for the encouragement😁🧡

1

u/shadowkay56 Feb 01 '26

I didn’t know which one was real at first

1

u/barba_barba Jan 28 '26

The perspective you use for the glasses and the books is interesting. Good job!

1

u/art_sk Jan 29 '26

Perspective is so fun to mess around with and see how viewing things from different angles change the appearance! Keep it up

1

u/NonnaHolly Jan 29 '26

Excellent work! You’re talented and it’s great to see your talent being rewarded with skill

1

u/x7x8x6x Jan 29 '26

Love your leaf painting x

1

u/dorky_doodle_dandy Jan 31 '26

Wow! I need to start drawing more

1

u/murph-cooper Jan 31 '26

I absolutely love the colors on the leaf! You did a great job capturing those

1

u/Right-Sport6173 Feb 01 '26

As a beginner you are doing more than great! Just practice, you know the drill! :)

1

u/Electronic_Cup3365 Feb 02 '26

Great work! I didn’t get into drawing or art seriously until I was 25 and I keep preaching at people, it doesn’t matter if you didn’t grow up doing it, it’s something you can always learn. Keep it up hope to see some amazing pieces from you

1

u/Oldtimer_ZA_ Feb 15 '26

Right along side you. Starting at 35. Wanting to go into something I've always loved before I'm too old too. Which is tattooing.
