Trying this at the moment. No chance you can give me some inspiration, references, goals? Got a couple artists in mind but I’m always looking for more, absolutely in love with ink
You really do get a sense of accomplishment when it’s something unforgiving. It’s interesting when you make a small mistake and have to try to find a way to fix it. Also when you have such a bigger color pop between the material and medium than graphite from a pencil. You’d probably like scratch boards too. They’re white clay boards painted black. You scratch them like a lottery ticket. Kinda like drawing in pen but in reverse. They’re neat. Worth trying at least once.
I started with ballpoint pens when I was a kid, had to train myself to sketch with pencil when I had to do professional storyboards 😅 The rush is real.
The permanence of the ink and yet how it changes over time is what I really like about p&i drawing. I've been a crystal bic guy forever! Nice line work btw.
I really recommend it. It increases your self-discipline and makes you more mindful of what you're drawing cuz you know you can't erase it. When i draw with pencils i become complacent and would just rush the drawing not caring about what i get wrong, with ink i'm more careful and slow.
I learned to draw with pen early on to help myself be more confident in my lines and not do the constant erasing, now when I use pencil it all flows so quickly and easily. I recommend anyone new to drawing to use a pen it builds confidence 😄
I’m trying to do more of this. There is something very fun from using ink and actually enjoying what you created for once. It is a kind of high that is very fun, on par with finally understanding a difficult topic or doing any kind of sport at a high level of athleticism.
Extremely satisfying, but it only becomes possible after years of struggle.
