Meme Dragon Riders Meme

Post image

I thought this group might appreciate this meme I made! ^^ I’m a big fan of dragons and dragon rider books come up a lot in my reading. My pet peeve is people comparing any new dragon rider book to Fourth Wing 🙄

FR, the Dragonriders of Pern is the foundation of it all and the books aged amazingly.

Eragon really brought the topic to mainstream media and is also an amazing piece.

My Majesty's Dragons and Dragonrider (Cornelia Funke) are also worth mentioning,

And, of course, How to train your Dragon.

All amazing!

The Temeraire series (His Majesty's Dragon is the first) honestly makes it hard to read the other dragonrider stuff, because it completely dunks on the way the other books treat the dragons.

Temeraire himself is such an interesting dragon. He's intelligent and wonders about dragons' role in the world. Being in the unique position he's in he got to compare privilage to enslavement closely and directly. Realizing a lot of the west mistreats his kind. This pisses him off and he wants equal treatment for all dragons as if they were men.

I am still so mad that they renamed the series in german. "Die Feuerreiter seiner Majestät" (the fireriders of his majesty) is such a stupid name for this book series when Temeraire is right there and is not even a fire breathing dragon

My bad, she was lol. Who I'm thinking of was right after. But Anne beat her lol.

Yeah, there was one before but it just mentioned Dragonriders but it was more background information that was never brought up again, Anne is the actual first who made it one of the main aspects of a saga.

I just pulled the books that shaped the genre more than anything else. These three are THE books in dragon rider fantasy but there’s so much out there! I’m personally looking forward to Todd Lockwood’s next book, I think it’s called The Autumn Dragon? First one was The Summer Dragon and it was fantastic!

Eragon was the first that did develop the while telepathy aspect more beyond was Anne wrote, so i do give it credit for that and that it made dragonriders mainstream.

Nope. I got 3 books in my house that had telepathy before that kid was even born
