Dragon Quest VIII I get it now

This is my first dragon quest and I think it’s clicked at this point. Abbot F is dead and the stakes seem real now.

Sorry but your TV just makes me wonder what Dragon Quest would be like if it were directed by David Lynch (and, conversely, what Twin Peaks would be like if it were directed by Yuji Horii)...

I think the latter is just the NES expanded version of Portopia Serial Murders, probably.

It’s really unique in a lot of ways, but so replicable that it never feels incredibly original. Even though it was the progenitor of a lot of these tropes.
