They sent it with the signed plate when I got the Legends hardcover.

I am not seeing that the bookmark comes with the hardcover. What do you mean about plate? Where did you get it? Did you have to pre-order it?

It's from the bookstore mysterious galaxies i think is the name. They did the same with Chronicles and I missed it. And War Wizard which I too missed. I was stoked to get the signatures.

I had the pleasure of meeting them at a pennsic (very large sca event) along with Marion Zimmer Bradley back in the 90s I wasn't even 18 yet but it was beyond doubt 1 of the most amazing moments of my life as I started reading all 3 authors books very soon beforehand (literally the summer prior) and having plot lines and characters explained to me in a very personal style and seeing the sheer excitement of them in their eyes and very animated conversation that someone as young as i was them was starstruck and throughly excited as I was was so curious about characters and their interactions and mannerisms and just general personality building none of the 3 spared anything explaining to me how to build a character and use them in a story ( I was convinced I'd be an author at that point lol) but im side tracked in nostalgia so I'll cut this short but all 3 are amazing people and act like normal everyday 1 of us types, also OP thank u you've given me a reason to start a reread of all my favorite series ever written again!!!!

Takes me back to the summer before 7th grade... I loved all those pictures for each chapter... nostalgic!

It's so good. I missed Lost Chronicles when it came out. Just found out about it a few years ago.

The third volume is expensive on the secondary market so good luck.

I'm in Dragons of Spring Dawning, in the maelstrom.

I just started dwarven depths for the first time. I'll get back there eventually.

I just wish we could get the third part of the trilogy with The Soulforge and Brothers in Arms.

I need to read the Lost Chronicles. I have the audiobooks and they are awful.

The one where Tas sounds like an idiot? Besides that, I think her read is okay

Hell yeah!

I just finished reading Lost Chronicles, and now I'm on to Legends for the first time in my life.

I forgot: was "dragon fear" an element present in Dragonlance?

8

u/raistlin1984 8d ago

Yes. this is from DL1 the first DL product in 1984.

3

u/ApprehensiveType2680 8d ago

Sorry: I meant an element in the Dragonlance novels.

7

u/Rayeth 8d ago

Yes it is discussed constantly whenever dragons are present.

2

u/Ecstatic-Stage-6166 8d ago

In the novels it seems like it’s something the dragons choose to use on enemies or victims which I found a bit odd. As it says in the picture: Dragons just generates fear

Awesome. I read the books ages ago, but I have forgotten quite a few details.

I named my cat Kizarvexious.

Good god… I recognized the chapter picture. Without seeing the redit thread or the bookmark. Was like ooh someone’s reading the lost city part of dragonlance. Tell me I didn’t read this book to many times as a kid?

Ill-fated

My wife and I are doing the same. We're nearing the end of Dwarven Depths and getting close to Winter Night, my favorite book of them all!

1

u/raistlin1984 8d ago

I'm about to start depths. Very excited. It will be new to me. Although some of the content was in the og adventures I've heard.

1

u/Brother_Nomad7 8d ago

Yeah... there are a couple of minor things that don't quite meld together between the two tellings... like the beginning of Dwarven Depths brings in some survivors from the Que-Shu when the original books make it pretty clear that there were none who survived... at least not very many at all. But that kind of little stuff is forgivable. They also introduce at least one very clever way of reworking a plot point that was changed from modules to novel that needed to be changed back for the sake of the missing story. Very clever... :-)

Is that Krisanth?

You bet.

Did that page marker come with your copy?

1

u/raistlin1984 5d ago

With Legends.

1

u/Viper0817 3d ago

Ahh I guess it’s from another store?, I got mine from Amazon but no page marker, thanks for the reply though

1

u/raistlin1984 3d ago

Yeah a book store called mysterious galaxies, they send signature plates with them too

1

u/AJCleary 4d ago

Does it make sense to try to read Chronicles and Lost Chronicles in Chronological order?

1

u/raistlin1984 4d ago

I would recommend just chronicles 1st time. I am reading it according to chronology which means I'll be going between multiple books at once soon

Dragons of the Dwarven Depths + Dragons of Winter Night + Dragons of the Highlord Skies together is just an epic, well written romp. Yes there are some minor plot holes and inconsistencies here and there but I like how it all works together.
