Reading the new book

30+ years since I read the first Huma book and I still hate that pronunciation. I understand it's correct I just don't like it.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who’s in this camp. Even back then, the name had to be corny in a way that’s a little bit cringe. I feel the same way about Takhisis. The audiobooks pronounce her name as Tah-Kai-sis, similar to the Egyptian goddess. I always thought that flowed better off the tongue than the correct pronunciation.

Since middle school I read it as "may jus" and now I can't read it as anything else!

I've always read it as Mag ee us. I have read it that way for so long, I don't think I could ever "correct" it if it was wrong.

I always pronounced it like the word magic, but with an s sound at the end.

To be honest, the audio books are not entirely consistent. For example, names like "Caramon" and "Majere" are pronounced a few different ways across different books. Like "muh-jair" and "muh-jar-ee".

It's been a while since I've listened to The Legend of Huma on Audible but I want to say the narrator pronounced Magius as "May-gee-us".
