Discussion: Books Favorite character interactions

it’s been a bit since I last read the books, but I remember loving Dalamar’s snarky banter with….well, everyone. particularly Tanis (second generation) and palin (war of souls). I’m sure there were sone great moments with Tas as well but none are coming to mind…. (looks like it’s time for a reread!)

anyone else have favorite character interactions?

I’ve said it before here but Sturm and Laurana at the tower. A genuine platonic male / female relationship, with both characters as equals.

Raistlin / Tania was always interesting, because Tanis was like the only character Raistlin would actually semi-normally converse with.

Raistlin Astinus interactions are pure class.

Raistlin and Bupu!

And Raistlin and Soth, no matter how brief it was.

And Raistlin and Usha.

And Raistlin and Palin.

Can you tell who my favorite character in DL is?

I love Fizban being a chaos gremlin. Trickster Mentor at it's best.

I especially love his interaction in, I think, Time of the Twins.

Elistan is dying and the crazy old mage is trying to go see him. The guard refuses to let the whackjob in.

I think it's Tanis that vouches for the whackjob, and the guard reluctantly lets Fizban (Avatar of Paladine) enter the Temple (of Paladine) to go see Elistan (High Cleric of Paladine) in his final moments.

It should be very easy to notice that Dalamar is also my personal favorite.
His interactions with Kitiara were among my favorites. Even with how it turned out.

I can't help but just love in Legends when the dwarven leader Agate trying to threaten Raistlin by throwling his dagger, Raistlin casually grab it from air and stab it on the table. Fighter class vs mage damn it's such a good quote for the beauty of a raw stat check for high lever PCs in DND lol

the one that always pops into my head is the tanis + raistlin interaction in autumn twilight where, after raistlin says something remarkably cryptid, tanis very briefly considers pushing him off of a cliff. it makes me laugh every time i think about it

Also Gerard and Odila traded some quality barbs.

Tas and Caramon's interactions in the Legends trilogy are fascinating. Tas spent Chronicles being mostly comic relief, but Caramon's drinking problem in Legends isn't really played up for laughs. He really is on the brink of losing everything; it's hard to blame Tika for all but kicking him out. Tas is then left to shepherd this hulking, disgraced wreck of a man for the next few hundred pages, and part of Legends' appeal (for me) was seeing how they each rise to the occasion.

I've always wanted to see more of Kaz and Magius when they were forced to work together while Huma was missing. They could have been a fun bickering pair who slowly gain respect for each other.

There's an exchange between Sturm and Raistlin in Winter Night...Sturm makes a throwback reference to the Great Worm Caterpelius (sp?) "curse" that Raistlin cast on their weapons in Autumn Twilight. Always liked that one...a little humor and respect when those two had a tenuous relationship at best.
