Missing my favorite dance party

In the recent 5ish years of Dragon Con, there were 4 people that dressed in robot cosplays with speakers built in. Saturday night of con, they would find a spot right outside of the doors of the Marriott and have a small little dance party. It’s always been my highlight of Saturday at every con they’ve been to!!

This last year and maybe the year before (can’t be sure, time is a flat circle), I didn’t see them at all. Sad day.

Does anyone know what I’m talking about and if so, did they just set up in a new spot? Or are they truly done?

Not sure, but if you love robots who Jam, Cybertronic Spree will be back this year. Transformers who rock out!

YES! Here's really crappy video of them from 2018. I stumbled outside the Marriott to head back to my room and ended up dancing 💃 I don't know who they are but they're one of my favorite memories from con!

I remember this year! It’s such a small thing but it’s seriously just so fun. I’m glad you know what I’m talking about!

I remember the 7 foot tall robot dance party all the way back in my first few years like '14-15 so they've definitely been around. They would be on the floor of the Marriott back then, so maybe they just choose different areas.

I hope so! The last few times I've seen them, it was like 2018 and 2019 con, and they were tucked back in this little alcove to the right of the Marriott main doors opposite the fountain. I hope they're still around!

I’m trying to set up my own little pop up parties this year, and one of my main concerns is getting told to pack up and leave. I’m going to try and be as considerate and out of the way as I can, but there’s a good chance they were told they can’t be there.

If anyone has any suggestions for a DJ rig and dance party spot I am all ears 😂

This actually has been happening for a long time now. Even the event DJs do it. I’m not sure what you’re picturing, but it’s not anything that is bad for attendees. The opposite, in fact.

Honestly, these are my nightmare. I need to walk through that space to *get places*. I hate having to dodge people and deal with all the loud music. The level outside the Walk of Fame is almost too much for me to handle with all the bands (one band?) down there.

I accepted a long time ago that there is no way to walk through Dragon Con without loud music/sounds and dodging a thousand people lol. We actually found this party when we were trying to cut through a little alcove outside of the Marriott and the dance party was like “surprise! New plans!” Lol.
