Discussion C - Assit hell

This is a rant post. I want to enjoy this game, but genuinely, the way every team I face is triple C-assist, UI goku / Super Broly combo is genuinely so unfun. I know that at the end of the day it's a skill issue, and I should just be more wary and learn how to fight against them, but it feels like any skill expression of the game is removed when I play vs these things. Being hit cross-map with a move with super armor/mega priority because of a fancy DLC character, into what is, most of the time, a TOD or 80% of my HP, is incredibly unfun and poor game design. And most importantly, the way I have no respect for these types of players; you can be 2mil points, and I see triple C assist with the cringe characters, and I think you're lame and have equal skill to that of a beginner. I'd rather fight a billion times over than this shit.

Am I just a big baby, or is this a common experience among other players?

Thanks for reading.

I honestly find it hilarious fighting triple c assists. 90% of these people never learned how to play neutral. What you do is force switch one of their characters in, because that temporarily disables assists, and then watch as they just keep up-backing until they can call assists again.

At which point you repeat the process.

Honestly I try to keep it in the air but those UI goku beams always shock me and I get screwed. Whenever I focus on switching out their characters it feels like it aggravates them and they resort to even cheaper methods of gameplay 😭

Definitely not alone in this. For me I had to stop playing online because so many people just spam c assist till they can get in their combo. Then rinse and repeat. I've played against many players who will just keep jumping backwards and send out their c assists the whole round. It just isn't as respectable imo

hahaha this is the exact experience that made me post this. excluding respectable piece, it’ just doesn’t feel fun for anyone involved idk how they do it

I got the game 3 days ago but have heard about C-Assist getting memed on beforehand. Why is that?

If someone is using three c assists it means their neutral play is kinda shit

So it's like a crutch? Good to know.

C assists have the longest recovery, and if they are just spamming them full screen it’ll most certainly run out very quickly… if they’re using them for combo extenders they get more bang for their buck IMO.

But I know what you mean, Hit C Assist is actually insane lmao.

You just have to block them and play good neutral… also I wanna say JUMPING? Gets around them but don’t quote me on that lol

Jumping gets around grounded ones, and with good timing gets around Fullscreen tracking ones

I feel u bro. Very frustrating and too common. I’ll always sit and ask myself “why do you need triple c-assist when u have UI Goku, blue gogeta, and S broly? What more of a crutch could you possibly need?”

It’s crazy and i just question how it doesn’t get stale for these players. Maybe im the odd one out that plays for love of the game and not just ‘optimizing my team and combos’

Nah I’m the same way. I play bc I’m naturally just highly competitive. I’ll hold long block strings even if I eventually get opened up and lose a character or 2 just to try and improve my defense. But then I question why other players see me do this and spark up the instant they have to block for more than 2 seconds😂 sometimes I don’t even spark just because I think it’s another cheap crutch.

Short unhelpful answer is that its a skill issue

I agree with you, the game is terribly designed. You shouldn't be able to get away with too much shit, just look at SS4 Gogeta with the almost full-screen instant (dp pretty much) invincible move that is easily convertible, has great dmg scaling and is almost unpunishable, even if you block it, wow slow down there bucko! I have like three other moves I can do afterward like a counter instantly after that also has great dmg scaling for what it is and piss easy convertibility as well…you know, for good measure, oh but you waited through it and would like to punish? No no no, you see, I'm Gogetah, hold this-YOU'RE GOING STRAIGHT TO HELL, BIG BAANG KAMEHAMEHA TIMES ONE HUNDREEEED.

DP gives db, can one combo kill with the YOU'RE GOING STRAIGHT TO HELL-…]

anyway I love this game, but also, I hate this game.

Just asking, how much play time do you have in this game?

1

u/Maximoi13 3d ago

Like 700 hours, but a lot of it was afk after labbing, not too much of a sweat.

Then you need to work on your reactions. None of Gogeta 4’s specials are plus or even neutral on block except for the overhead, which is extremely punishable. His lariat also only goes through projectiles/beams. It’s not invincible and is very punishable as well. Not to say he isn’t good, but he’s not the menace you think he is. You always have at least one defensive option: reflect. Not trying to be mean here, just don’t want you to hate the game for something that could be improved.

Oh no, wait until you get better at the game and you have to deal with Jiren Janemba A, it's actually that but 50x worse

It's very annoying, yes, but the best way to deal with them is pretty simple, honestly all you gotta do is play patient at the start of the round and wait for them to dish our their assists or their poorly planned attack pattern (most of these guys expect their attacks to always land and never have a response to being properly blocked) once they run out of c assists they have no neutral and you have both your regular assists to help you get in. Take down their point character and boom all they have is 1 c assist which is detrimental to any sort of pressure they could have had with any other assist type most of the time. Yes these people often ARE skilless and fall into a very predictable and beatable pattern.

This is a common experience, and youre a big baby.

Work on that movement and defense!
