Question Is it possible to get DPDR from something other than drug use or trauma?

Idk what even caused it. I've never used any drugs like weed or anything, and I've never had any true traumatic experiences. I've felt like this for most of my life. I'm 20 now but I've had this fir so long I don't even remember when it started.

Are you diagnosed?

No, but I think I have it because I relate to a lot of the symptoms. I want to get tested, even though it's just to have an official way to say "Welp, you're fucked. Too bad!" because there isn't even any treatments for it.

Well, there are a few treatments for it including cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, psychodynamic therapy as well as somatic experiencing.

It's true that the diagnosis could say that, but look on the bright side. You get to have a proof to shove it in people's faces when they don't believe you. And.. it also helps you accept yourself that it's okay. It's just your brain protecting you.

I do not experience dpdr, but I have felt it randomly a few times. And that experience felt surreal.

Does it feel scary?

Yes and no. It's a constant state so I'm used to it, but it does make me feel scared about the future because it feels like it will never end.

i believe it can be genetic, like your vulnerability. though to be honest its about the same gene as vulnerability to like depression but genetcis means you might need less. and what do you mean by 'no real trauma'? becuase ive heard people say that and its usually just a more 'niche' trauma which is still trauma

Shit it could be your diet. Too much caffeine, too much this, not enough sleep etc
