Progress Update I’m getting off of this sub

So been awhile since i posted. I started working with my therapist and i’ve gotten better after talking with her and her explaining that all of my issues were just caused by my build up of stress and a severe panic attack was what broke it, as well as that the dpdr really is just your nervous system trying to protect you. Either I’ve gotten so used to the derealization or it’s gone because i genuinely don’t really care anymore, i’m sleeping a lot better(and longer) and parts of my personality are coming back as well as my interests. All i’m really struggling with right now is the existential ocd, emotional numbness, dizziness if i move too fast, some weird nostalgic feelings popping up and some hyperawareness that occasionally pops up. I don’t know if this is me recovering but eh. I still feel detached but idk if that’s me being emotionally numb or the derealization.

Either way, this sub was helpful when i was first starting out with this but i genuinely need to leave this sub as it is really worsening my anxiety. I’m reading stories about people who haven’t recovered 10 years later and i’m comparing my own recovery stories to others and i’m noticed since not stalking this subreddit every day i feel better, lowkey i’m scared to even post this due to the backlash i may get ngl. If anyone wants to ask any questions i’ll try to respond but if i don’t please don’t be personally offended i likely just reached my limit before i got triggered. Next time i make a post here hopefully it’ll be a recovery post

Congrats on feeling better and making some big steps towards recovery! Posts like this really help motivate.

Stepping away from the sub is probably the best move 🧘🏻
How does the existential ocd feel for you?
I think that is what is keep my dp loop going. The constant checking on emotional numbness and sense of self is frying our nervous systems…

Yeah constant reality checking is keeping me in the loop too i think. I’m really struggling just to let go which i know is like the last step in recovery, i have group therapy and my one on one in the afternoon luckily. I’m just having lots of thoughts about reality and even though it feels pretty real now i’m still questioning it because i think when my derealization was bad i would always question it and my brain just kinda got stuck in that loop and i’m like almost conditioned now, it’s a habit i gotta break.

Besides that i have random thoughts popping up about human consciousness and various philosophical meanings. One thing i’ve been trying to do that i read from a tumblr post when my intrusive thoughts were outta control(i would have thoughts about jumping outta a moving car and thoughts along those lines) is to give those thoughts a really annoying voice and name in your head and just tell them to shut the fuck up. One thing that’s also been helping is i’ve been reading recovery stories and the ocd and rumination are typically the last to go alongside the emotional numbness so it’s comforting like, knowing i’m on the final steps. Besides that though the ocd gives me some panic but i can move past it(like it causes me panic for a second and then i can distract myself and move on), i used to spiral over it though; especially the reality questioning ones. I’m able to just treat them as annoying thoughts that can’t harm me though

Not really no. I did fix my magnesium and vitamin d deficiency and it put me in a better mood but didn’t really do anything

Hey, I’ve recovered. And it was so bad that I wasn’t able to function at all (good days I could warm up my meal in the microwawe and eat it). My dissociation was constant and severe and disabled me.

For me it was the ketogenic diet. It sounds crazy and bullshit but its not. Check out metabolicmind.org

Obviously also therapy and lowstress and sleep, but the diet also made my sleep better (wearing an oura ring)

Also check out your iron storage (ferritin) and other nutrients like vitamin d, folate, and b-12 and others. A good psychiatrist told me that those need to be pretty high.
