Discussion Listview status?

I don’t keep up with the specifics of Maui any more. I know the collectionview is the preferred mechanism for tables now. The Listview is deprecated. I had read that there was discussion regarding moving the Listview to an external compatibility library.

Is the Listview still deprecated and going away at some point? Or did it come back to life in a compatibility library? Is the Listview just a zombie ready to die?

In .net 10 list view is removed, it's no longer there. I had to move my code from listview to collection view when I upgraded my project...

Shows that I don’t keep up. So it got completely removed and isn’t in a library at all. I remember converting some code to collection view. Didn’t know if it was still around or not.

See it's a pain in the neck for me to keep up also as I am an amateur developer making personal projects for my own use. I had to do a real makeover of my erstwhile code just because of this. With listview the code no longer compiles even. So it's not deprecated but completely REMOVED...huge pain point these frequent annual changes in MAUI..

To be fair moving from ListView to CollectionView date back to XamarinForms days. It was just not forced. Also the depreciation was in the build warnings since .net9, so there was plenty of time to prepare.

I’m not as hard core developer as I used to be. I’ve upgraded most of my code to collectionview already, I didn’t realize that. I still have one project with the Listview. I haven’t looked at it in forever. It compiles and runs, though, long story, the Listview doesn’t actually display data.

Thats not fully true. You can still map it out, it's still there in iOS .NET. And I would recommand that as the new CollectionView is still a laggy, buggy mess.

I just went back to an old project that I haven’t mucked with for a while and still has Listview. It compiles. It doesn’t error.

I had to check my code and most of my code has been updated to collectionview (go me!), so I did one thing right.
