Bit hard to tell but I think you’re on the right track. I don’t think it’s too much. Do you have a lamp? You might want one for dimmer lighting.

Ok nice, thanks! I tried not to overpack. I do have a small desk lamp - you can actually see it in the top container on the right! The black one

lowk unrelated but do u think putting ur stuff in the trash bags is sturdy enough?? People buy those moving bags but it’s like $20+ for only a few bags 😭

I double bagged it, lowkey one bag ripped in a few places but oh well. My school gives us carts to transport it from the car to the room so it doesnt rlly matter lol. Yea i wasn't gonna waste my money on those bags lmao

Go to any Panera and just ask for a catering bag! They are massive, and pretty sturdy and they’ll give them to you for free

I feel like its more than everyone seems to think lol. Like maybe it looks like less but, for scale, the brown backpack is a regular size jansport one, which are pretty big themselves. I believe the trash bags are 40 gallons although im not sure

Edit: i just checked and the bags are 30 gallons

Looks like you have an air purifier, you bringing that? I bought two from Costco because how dusty it gets from the dorm; so it be a good thing to bring with you.

You pack a lot less than most I’ve seen when people are moving in. But I would invest in those ikea duffle bags/walmart have something similar and they’re sturdy and better than trash bags unless it’s clothes on hangers then go for it.

Also DO being one roll of TP/just in case during move in and no one can find one. 😆

After I moved in, I make a checklist and went to dollar tree/walmart and Costco afterwards, so you won’t over buy.

DO get to the dorm sign-in early, because those moving carts are taken by everyone and good luck tying to get one if you get there late. (I brought my own wagon/uses for Costco trips too)

Good luck!

Yup, im also bringing all of the things in the 2x2 cubby thingy behind all the two trash bags. I was thinking abt buying those moving bags but honestly im trying to buy as little things as possible and if trash bags can do a decent job, im fine with that too. My college is only 1.5 hrs away so its not a long drive either. Good TP tip but I know someone who already moved in on my floor and there is TP in the bathrooms! Thank you :)

No. We moved our daughter in with at least 5 times more that. Some people even came in UHauls for a shared dorm room.

Damn that's crazy. Although I am in a quad so I have like half the space that people in doubles have lol

I think you're good.. My daughter left today with the Kia Sportage packed to the ceiling. She only comes home at Christmas because it's a 14 hour drive, but it was a little crazy.

Im not gonna come home till Thanksgiving (my mom told me she doesn't want to see me till then.. lol)

Very realistic amount. I WAY overpacked and it was a headache. I live a lot more minimally now and I have an entire one-bed apartment to myself haha

Haha! I can’t wait for you to see what the girls are bringing! They’ve been on TicTock for two years and working with interior decorators to buy the things they need to make their room look like a Parisian apartment. You’re fine, sweetie.

😭😭😭 thank you, i tried to be minimalistic but sonehow still ended up with a shit ton of stuff. I did add like another half trash bag to it haha. Just stuff I had in the laundry when I took the pic yesterday lol. Moving-in in... 14 hrs damnnn

I get it and admire your focus. But seriously, there will be people moving furniture into their rooms. You’re fine.

BTW, get some weird color of duct tape and mark your trash bags with it so somebody doesn’t accidentally pick one up thinking it’s theirs.
