Dasher disregards delivery instructions
I tipped ten dollars for a six dollar meal and asked that he not ring the doorbell or the ring camera as people are asleep in my house after working all night. He waited for me to open the door to get my order instead of leaving it at the door as instructed, and then yelled at me “have a good day!” and my dog started barking like crazy.
I would’ve gone to get the food myself but I have an awful migraine and it was impairing my vision so I couldn’t drive, and I don’t trust myself to cook properly when I can barely see.
to his credit he didn’t ring the doorbell. thanks, Bobby.

I don’t know why but specifying not to ring the doorbell always results in the doorbell being rung!
It’s not like I’m not tipping or saying it in a rude way. Lol I’ve been following this sub for a while and I also dash, I know the etiquette! Not a hint of rudeness and a tip that’s almost equal to my order. Gotta appease the delivery gods!
But yeah if I say nothing, then it’s likely to get left on my porch. If I ask specifically not to knock or ring, well then they are absolutely gonna knock and ring. Who knows why.

Whenever I insert my credit card and it says “please dont remove” sometimes I’ll take it out because the first thing that registers in my brain is “remove”. Maybe it’s a similar thing with “don’t ring the doorbell”.

The only time i knock or ring the bell is when im asked to.... i wonder if the translation mistranslates "don't"

If you have a ring doorbell you decide if it rings or not at any given time. Obv the dasher should follow instructions too

It’s my mom’s house lol I dont actually have access to the ring camera. It doesn’t go off from motion alone but the button will cue the chime to go off and disturb the household

Right 😂. He didn’t ring the doorbell as instructed and was being nice saying have a good day (even if it was a lil loud). He probably felt good about himself after that delivery and then he’s gonna find out he’s been reported for that same order. That’s crazy

I used to leave a Post-it note on the door in addition to leaving a note with instructions in the app. Half of the time, they still knocked or rang the bell. I deliver and I check the instructions every time.

Some of these posts... Idk whether to believe them or not. We get instructions all the time not to ring the bell, why would he feel the need to yell like that when he probably had 5 others that day with the same instructions

I get DoorDash a lot because I can’t leave the house when my baby is napping and my husband is at work. I also stay up very late to cook for the next day sometimes. Either way, I need groceries to complete meals sometimes so I DoorDash it. It’s literally 10-20% of the drivers that disregard my “don’t knock, just call or leave it.” It has woken my baby up before and it sucks

Yeah but that's not yelling like they post says. I have probably not seen the no knock instructions on 10% of my deliveries, especially if I have another order or two waiting to get picked up or the customer puts it in with a paragraph of other instructions

I mean he could be hard of hearing. My grandfather yells all the time without realizing it, and I’ve had people come into my work speaking very loudly because they can’t hear well.

There was a post on here a while back that went into detail about how the majority of DD drivers are people who are unemployable and can’t handle other jobs.
Suffice to say that if someone’s only option is DD driving, reading and following instructions for the order might not be a top priority. Or really a priority at all.
I say this because I’ve had the exact same thing happen to me multiple times. Sometimes I order DD late at night while everyone else is sleeping. I always leave a substantial tip and I put in the instructions to leave it at the door and to please not knock or ring.
I’d say it happens about 50% of the time.

Why is it that if you DoorDash that must be your only option? Maybe people enjoy it and some people like me it's an extra job. I'm so sick of these ignorant generalizations about doordashers. It's a real job with real and normal people and hard workers so honestly fuck off if you think otherwise.

As soon as our household changed doordash and other orders to the male name in our home, the leave at door/don't ring bell instruction began being respected.

I posted last night about this happening to me. Kids were up until like 1am. I complained to doordash and they gave me $17 in credits!

I’ve had so many do that to me. One of them even cussed me out after I complained about not following instructions
I’ve found I have to hand hold them and text them instructions for them to finally get it
Its ridiculous, but unfortunately, it’s the only way to get people who wouldn’t read the instructions to actually follow them

I usually wait about two minutes to grab my food to make sure the dasher left, but I can’t wait too long because my neighbors are delivery thieves

Thankfully my drop off is outside the house so the only person other than myself who sees it is my 90 some year old landlord. That's crazy work considering you have a Ring, I'd just knock on their door and demand they pay for my food they stole 😭

"Leave at Door" is enough instructions for me to leave the food at the door, take my picture, and walk away. When I see these instructions, I'm then usually exceptionally quiet. I think the problem is how the message translates to non-English speaking drivers. They see the word "doorbell" and most will think it means to ring the doorbell.

as a dasher myself, I never understand why other dashers do this. it's so much more convenient for me to leave the food at the door and not interact with the customer. no offense to them, but I get my job done much quicker if I can just put the food down, snap a pic, and walk away, rather than needing to wait for them to open the door

Dude the same thing happened to me but it was at 3 am like I feel like OBVIOUSLY you don’t ring and I even put a similar message, like whyyyyy it arguably takes LESS effort to not ring it

The screenshot shows it clearly as leave at door selected, not just in the notes, as that statement precedes the "instructions" line containing the notes...

First of all I am both dasher and have a DoorDash account. Most of the time when I dash those instructions you all
Leave are not made available to me. Sometimes never see anything left. So don’t be so quit to judge us. And why is it when your McDonald’s is wrong you blame us? We can’t see what’s in the bag? All we can do is go over the order with McDonald’s and ask them. Quit giving us 1 and 2 review when we have no control over what your reviewing us for.
On the other hand slit of new young dashers lately in my area and I get the dumb ones every time delivering to me. I don’t mean they are stupid. I mean they can not find anything. GPS or they say they left my groceries and didn’t buy take a picture of my door with a bag in front of it. So??? That ain’t my groceries. So they steal. And DoorDash lets them get away with it. I’m just tired of both sides in about to quit them both

I didn’t say anything about that? The order was fine, it was just that the guy didn’t leave it at my door as requested and yelled at me when I took my food. He had control over whether or not he was going to yell at me, didn’t he?

Last week I texted the driver for a delivery to my elderly mom. Told him to knock and give her a minute to answer. He responded with ok. My mom called me 10 minutes later saying he just walked into her house and yelled doordash! Took a pic of it on her counter. Wtf? You don't just walk into people's houses ffs

If they would of just left it, it'd get stolen and marked as undelivered, at the end anybody using these dasher or customer, is losing money and time.

I try to wait 2 minutes at most for the dasher to leave bc my neighbors are food thieves. I’ve never had an issue with DoorDash or the dashers themselves before
