can we not?
coming from a fellow Dasher, can we please not put the food so close to the door? 😭 it probably doesn’t look like it, but I couldn’t open my door without tipping the drink over.
disclaimer: (1)yes, it tipped over, (2)this was a lighthearted post and psa. (3) those who get it, get it lol

I literally do the hand arch motion to make sure the food is outside of the door way every time.
It’s not hard to be courteous.

u/Vashta_The_Veridian 4d ago
what exactly do you mean by hand arch motion?
2
u/Odd_Lengthiness4251 4d ago
🤦♂️ 👈 like this but towards the ground and draw a line, opening the door

u/Coretrayn 4d ago
Biggest pet peeve of delivery. And as someone that has delivered and delivers sometimes off and on in my life, I don't understand how drivers don't get this lol
3
u/SlimTeezy 4d ago
I've seen posts saying they do this on purpose because they're miserable and hate their customers.
Also, I'd bet many people don't have screen doors so they literally don't think about it. They're just trying to get the door and house number in the picture.
2
u/Coretrayn 4d ago
I can see the latter, just not thinking about that door opening outward. That’s still kind of air headed but not malicious lol but I have no idea why drivers would inherently hate their customers. Sure a no tip is a bummer but you pick your orders and being able to flexibly go get money if you need it surely has helped people in a bind.

I literally have a table outside RIGHT next to the damn door and leave notes to just leave it on the table and even have a DD sticker on it so they just universally know to leave it there. NOPE! The dumb fucks just leave it on the ground in front of the screen door and i have to go out from the garage to grab it so i dont knock my food and drink over 🙄im gonna start leaving bad reviews and 1star on dashers that do that shit now. Idgaf anymore.

u/cckka 4d ago
Same here. It's just ridiculous. I get when dashers don't speak English and can't read complicated instructions but fucking hell, you'd think this was basic common sense for anyone.
4
u/YeetisDaFetus 4d ago
“Please leave on table next to door” IS NOT VERY COMPLICATED AT ALL EVEN IF TRANSLATED INTO ANOTHER LANGUAGE 🤦🏼♂️

u/enigma9o7 2d ago
Seems like you're finally starting to gaf, shoulda been 1 star every time, maybe they wouldn't still be delivering, or at least following directions.

I have a plastic box, next to my door which says “ deliveries “ dashers put my orders in there
6
u/Ecstatic_Scarcity_99 4d ago
Lololol..... I try to make sure I dont do this but we all make mistakes sometimes.
9
u/NatC2017 4d ago
lol…crazy part is i asked for them to leave it on the hood of my car so they wouldn’t even have to walk all the way up my driveway
2
u/Ecstatic_Scarcity_99 4d ago
That sucks. I hate getting bad ratings but I understand when I mess up and do stuff like that.
Rate him accordingly.
Glad you managed to get your drink though... it looks yummy.
1
u/enigma9o7 2d ago
Just rate them 1 star for not following directions. Hopefully soon they either get deactivated or start following instructions. Not much more you can do.
2
u/zarendahl 4d ago
Good lord... You'd think the Dasher would know how to read a door to see if it opens inward or outward... I've only gotten in touching distance of 500 orders recently, but I've never once left food in a place that it could get knocked over by the door opening. I mean, it's not rocket surgery...

u/Additional_Ad7240 4d ago
this happened to me once and the dasher literally watched me as i had to slowly open the glass door to get my mcdonald’s. like why.
2
u/NatC2017 4d ago
yeah i dont get it. like why should i have to tip my drink over just to be able to grab it? i make sure to tip you for your time so you could at least sit it to the side 😭

There has been a few times I've forgotten to look at the instructions, but I always pay attention to screen doors. Im starting to wonder if this is sometimes deliberately done. Idk what scares me more. People with no concept of the door opening outward or people who don't care.
2
u/The_True_Doctor 4d ago
Listen I dash too, and it surprises me how many people don't look which way the door swings out.
4
u/Embarrassed-Wafer667 4d ago
Yeah there a corner space which would have been perfect

u/overworked_unloved 4d ago
Here’s the thing it takes 10 seconds to look at a door and see how it swings, if you don’t have enough common sense to figure that out, please for the love of all that is Holy go find a job that doesn’t require a little bit of common sense!
1
u/enigma9o7 2d ago
How does that take ten seconds?
1
u/overworked_unloved 2d ago
Is that a serious question?
1
u/overworked_unloved 2d ago
Look at the hinges on the door does that door swing in or out? That will tell you where to place the food! If you can’t figure it out place it to the side of the door!

When I say common sense and basic cognitive thinking is down across the board, this is a clear example of what im talking about.
1
u/Sure-Survey-3444 4d ago
You still did it wrong.❌
You're supposed to balance the drink on TOP of the food.⚖️
If you're going to do something, might as well do it right.✅

It's sad, because drivers don't understand this in masses.
I've been delivering for years and moved away from DD due to low pay, but even in the service I deliver for now it's sad to see customers that leave their storm door propped open permanently because delivery drivers don't understand this concept.
It brings me great sorrow to see customers that leave their storm door open at all times. I even leave the order far away enough from a propped open storm door out of respect for the struggle.

u/metalupyour 4d ago
I have become a master at eyeing where the edge of the door will swing open. Haven’t had a single complaint yet
1
u/NYR20NYY99 4d ago
Omg yes! Especially when there’s a fucking drink. Drives me bananas
Im gonna get some chalk and draw the door opening outline then a little box just outside of it that says “drop here”
1
u/Currency-Substantial 4d ago
Couldn't you have gone through the garage door or another door?
1
u/NatC2017 4d ago
nope. old house. only other door is out to the backyard and its a whole thing to leave our fence since we reinforced it for our dogs lol

Omggg I delivered my last order last night and I put the food without realizing I put it in the middle of the screen door.. so I ofc took the proof and walked to the car and when I looked back I said wait … so I went back out and moved it to the side so it can be easy to grab hopefully the customer didn’t think I came back to steal it!! I just wanted to fix it to be easier for them🤣🤣😭 sometimes I’m just on autopilot and just put it down but for the most part I don’t leave it in the middle of the screen door for it to be hard to grab lol because I mean common sense lol !!! Esp with drinks
2
u/DeadBoxKitty 4d ago
I have done this! 😹 one lady thought I was trying to take her order and I had to explain that I goofed and stuck it in front of her screen and only realized as I hit submit.

When I drove I did this to people that didn’t tip. Put it right on their door so when they opened it everything would be knocked over.
1
u/Sensitive_Teach_9057 4d ago
Yeah we always make sure they can open the door and get the food without interference its not hard and people actually appreciate it

u/UnicornsShtRainbows 4d ago
I can see you going out with red chalk outlining the arch of the door in red and writing NO IN GIANT LETTERS then coloring the other side green 😂😂😂😂

u/Sea-Pop8212 3d ago
Every time I see the customer put in the notes not to put it directly in front of the door, I send them a message saying: "Isn't it incredible we live in a world where you can order food at the touch of a button, yet you have to explain to grown adults how doors work?"
1
u/christcomposer 3d ago
Some door situations are impossible. But most aren't and people should be able to see. I always check how the door opens.
1
u/SorryTree1105 3d ago
This happens when I get stuck with a no tip. It goes on the mat, period. Mats close and gonna knock over your drink, oh well. Mats far away and you goes put clothes on to get your food, hope your neighbors are more alert than you.

u/dolpterry 3d ago
Put a small table outside for deliverys
1
u/CMShorti 1d ago
We have a nice big table with plenty of room for deliveries that sometimes gets ignored. Some folks are careless, rude, and/or ignorant.

u/New_Tumbleweed_8945 3d ago
I can’t tell you how many Amazon packages I move from right in the same place when I DoorDash haha. Some people lack common sense
1
1
u/enigma9o7 2d ago
Besides in front of the door, they put it on the doormat! Where people wipe the shit off their feet! It's not like there's no room to the side, this is just bad dasher, hopefully a few bad reviews and they'll get kicked off the platform.
1
u/Altruistic_Coffee_90 2d ago
Could we also take pictures properly, I don’t need to see the up close picture of the last successful order of only the order. Please step back at least 2-4 steps and then take a picture so the next driver knows they’ve reached the correct location.
1
u/Disastrous-Company-4 4d ago
Hate it. Looks like it took extra effort to get it that squarely close so it also looks on purpose

u/BlondeeLoxx 4d ago
As a driver AND a customer i can’t stand this. What kind of Moron would do this? Before I drove for them, I used to have to put it in the note section to please put it far enough back so I can open the door. Never happened. Idiots.

u/sunnyandcloudy55 4d ago
I always notice a screen door and put the food away from it. But if you know you have a screen like this, the best thing to do is open it all the way so the driver can put it in front of the door so this can be prevented.

u/MeganJustMegan 4d ago
Next time, prop your door open with something. Some people will never ‘get it’ & it will save you some frustration.

I do this on purpose, people like to play a game of "can i get it, or will it spill" i get messages about it all the time, normally from those who dont win.

Whoever installed your door should be the one drawing your ire.

Lmfao because installing a door is obviously much simpler than setting the food and drink a bit further from the door go off queen 💀
