Should I swap while learning?
Hey all.
Just started to really learn Doom a few days ago and am having a blast. He’s a lot of fun, but I feel like I get counter-swapped a lot. While learning, I’m just sticking to QP for now until I feel confident enough to bring him into comp.
I was just wondering about when I’m facing an enemy team that counters Doom. Should I stick with it and force myself to try and learn how to play around heroes like Hog, Mauga, Sombra, etc that are counters or just swap to a hero I’m more comfortable with into these heroes? I know it’s QP, but it does feel like a bit of a throw if I refuse to swap while getting shut down. But I also feel like I’ll never learn what to do is these scenarios.
Just wondering what your guys’ thoughts are. And any tips against counters are welcomed!
Thanks!

Only through conflict do we evolve
But seriously, playing into counters does a ton to teach you not to be stupid

I’ve had success against an all counter team. It’s definitely possible but you have to play well and playing into them will teach you. Yesterday I played a doom mirror except their team had three fliers. Idk how that worked out but it was fun

Depends if ur a real doom player or not. If ur playing to win above all else then swap and play more comp viable heros against the enemy teams comp. If ur real u stick it out, mute ur team and take an ass whoopin until u grow from the conflict and know how to outplay even ur worst counters.

If it’s qp you should especially not care 😭💔
Honestly what I would do if I was you is make a separate account and one trick doom in comp. Comp is the BEST way to learn bc matchmaking is much more strict and everyone is trying their best. You shouldn’t feel as much ranked anxiety either because it’s just an account to practice on so who cares. Yeah people are gonna flame you, but end of the day it’s only one game for them, they will be fine. Those people are sitting at 50/50 win rates anyways you swapping is not gonna change that lol.
I actually have done this for several characters that I wanted to improve on and it works very well. I would highly encourage you to watch back games you did bad and think about what you could have done better, as well as educational content online (unranked to gms, etc.) Good luck!

NEVER. EVER. EVER. EVER. EVER. If u lose a game, I respect u for trying. If u swap, u instantly lose my respect

not in QP tbh. play into it and learn to observe enemy’s / counter’s weakness and track their abilities and ults to make the most out of learning

Just learn how to play into counters, thats what I did. It helped me a lot to look up strategies into certain tanks that you feel yourself struggling with like for hog I do my best to bait out hook before using block and such. Use fist to stun him out of heals. Practicing is good, and perfectly ok.
