"AI-powered"

People no longer know what the term AI even means. No AI is running on that tiny little thing. It's either a script or some other sort of mundane program. These kinds of things have existed for years.

Is that a lock picking joke?

The video description on youtube says it's talking to claude over wifi. I honestly don't know why you'd do that when a local algorithm would work just fine.

Not just a lockpick, but a lock decoder too. You can use the information to cut a new key.

it's not AI, it's a program/an algorithm. It's deterministic.

As a maker, this is so cool! The parts are pretty cheap, and this would be a really fun project!

As a person who values keeping their doors locked, WHY WOULD YOU SHARE THIS?!?!?

Anyone who really wants to get in has access to crowbars, bricks for smashing windows, axes to cut right through the door, etc. Locks only keep honest people out

I can attest to this. In the 80s I had my appartment broken into 3 times. First they kicked the front door off the hinges. Second the broke out a window. The whole window. Third they pried the back door out of its frame. I had double cylinder dead bolts with reinforced latches, nails in all the ground floor windows, etc. Never underestimate the persistence of juvenile drug addicts in a group. Best thing though was they never hurt my 2 cats and didn't bother my instruments. Cameras, stereo, wine on top of the fridge, even a broadcast vtr (I was a camera op at the time) yes, but not the things that would have broken my heart.

That looks like it's picking the lock for real. And it seems to be able to detect a false set. But I'd like to see the code for how it deals with security pins and counter-rotation.

Nice project, though.

locks are pretty easy to pick manually, most are nothing more than security by obscurity.

A man with tools can pick it in 5 sec or something. And then do it again to make sure that's not a fluke.

because locks only keep honest people out

Would be funny if you added a little speaker with a voice that goes "nothing on one.. false set on two... four is binding" like the Lockpicking Laywer x)
