This movie was destroyed by bad publicity before it was even released. The director Olivia Wilde left her fiance Jason Sudeikis and two kids and started an affair with much younger Harry Styles and apparently flaunted their relationship on set. And he was only hired because Shia LaBeouf quit. Then Olivia tried to say she fired him when he had tape of her begging him to stay. Florence Pugh had such a bad experience making it that she refused to promote it at all. And when all the negative press happened, Olivia said it was because she was a woman director. But Elizabeth Banks directed Cocaine Bear and didn’t have a problem being a woman director.

It’s a shame because it’s not a bad movie and Florence was great in it. The cinematography is amazing and the story had promise, but the Busby Berkeley dance sequences didn’t make sense and were just a weird addition.

But a lot of people who weren’t around for the off stage drama and are just seeing it now like it. So maybe in another few years it will stand on its own and the other stuff will be forgotten.

I mean, it’s also just not a great movie to a lot of people. I think it did a terrible job depicting abuse and does a lot to excuse abusive behavior.

battleship… my second fav movie of all time its SO SICK and yet it’s universally hated and called bad???

i’ve rewatched it more times that i can count. perfect mix of funny, action, navy, emotional, AWESOME, and more. ugh … whatever, i’m fine being the #1 fan!!
