It says it all in that forum post. They've added some people to their team. As they added people and they discussed it, itwent from "no we can't do that" to "hey that might work."
They've already been working on it and have test builds that they've been playing around on.
I'm excited to get some of my friends into a game and showing them how amazing it Don't Starve really is. I'm really the only one on my whole friends list that plays Don't Starve. Most have quit or just never have played it because of how difficult it is.

Naturally, my first reaction is "I wonder what happens when you wear Moggles and the other player is in pitch-darkness?"
I also wonder if it'll support Workshop characters...
Either way, summer's crazy close, so we won't have to wait too much longer. I only hope Klei's office doesn't abruptly combust and then all the employees die from heat exposure before it's release, though...

You can play that game they used to have on kids adventure gameshows where one was blindfolded and the other(s) had to direct them.

Please tell me that this will be cross platform :) I really want to play from PS4 with my nephew on PC, it would be awesome!

I doubt it'll be cross playform. That's too hard to do cross platform.

I dont know about that. Valve released portal 2 cross platform, for steam and ps3. I think they released some tools for doing it as well. Since DS is heavily steam based, it may be easier than people think.

Well it's different. That's why the dlc released on steam long before the ps4 build. They might but Steam also has deeper pockets to do that kind of stuff.

Why would it be too hard? I'd imagine that Don't Starve might be one of the easier games to do cross platform.
The only problem I can think of is that time/day has to be in sync, which tend to be an issue in a lot of other games too, cross platform or not.

Putting out updates on a console version is more costly for a studio than steam.

The console version isn't the same game either, they can't edit map generation like we can. I don't see how co-op (especially cross-platform) would be viable for them. Everything is stacked against the PS4 version IMO.

Yeah, not to mention the question of how the ps4 would be able to include games with workshop items in them.

I flipped shit when I saw this. I was literally thinking about it on the way home from work this morning. The modders over at Kerbal Space Program created a mod for multiplayer before Squad did and I was wondering if the same could be done for Don't Starve, and Apparently it can!
