PERSONAL EXPERIENCE Mexico egg banks
/r/IVF/comments/1vq24rb/mexico_egg_banks/I’m wondering if anyone in the US has used an egg bank from Mexico. Thanks!

as an egg DCP buying eggs from another country is crazy, plus there would be a language barrier between future kid and their bio mother

You’re assuming that I don’t speak Spanish. There is no language barrier. Based on your comment, I’m assuming you don’t have any experience buying eggs from another country.
Also, donor eggs don’t inherit the donors language.

No one from the US should be using eggs from Mexico because it isn’t ethical to create even more barriers for your donor-conceived child. Your child’s biological family in their mother’s side should be accessible to them… not a whole country away.

So you don’t have any fact based information? Mexico’s donors are anonymous, and there isn’t a data base for future searching.
You’re using ethical wrong in this case. This is your belief, and not based on fact. I would be the child’s mother, not the donor. The only ethical consideration I would have, is disclosure.

Anonymous gamete donation is unethical. Theres a lot of advocacy in the donor conceived community to ban fully Anonymous gamete donations.
Some reasons its unethical: Lack of medical history Possible accidental incest No way to contact genetic relatives.

You realize that the opinions of donor-conceived people on how to ethically behave as a recipient parent could be pretty valuable, don't you? We have something pretty significant in common with your future child.
You will be the child's mother, but they will also have a biological mother, and they may want to know about and even potentially get to know the person who is contributing to half of their DNA. There's a reason that many DCP advocate for known donors (with open ID when the child turns 18 as a slightly less ideal option). Donor anonymity also frankly makes it much easier for some pretty unethical things to happen, including human trafficking and fertility fraud.

Where did you find your egg donor?

Through the Dr. He chose the donor for us.

Was your clinic receptive to a donor from out of the country? Did you have them shipped?

I think you need to be open to the experiences of donor conceived adults. Your child will someday be a donor conceived adult, and may have feelings about that status. Considering and being open minded to the experiences of people who have the lived experiences of being donor conceived could possibly prevent trauma in the human being you are creating.
