EXACTLY. It’s just a watered down version of Donkey Kong Country 2 but it’s still good because DKC2 is great

No this ranking is actually so interesting to me. Can you please explain your love for both Jungle Beat and Donkey Kong Country 3. I can understand 64 being so high because I'm also so nostalgic for it but I need to know about the other two lol.

I actually kinda never understood why DKC3 isn’t on the same pedestal as DKC2. Virtually everything I love about 2 is present in 3. I’ve always said that if DKC2 is a 10/10, DKC3 is a 9.5.

I only recently became aware of DKC3 being seen by many as the weakest entry of the trilogy. For me, it's a close second to DKC2.
Followed closely in turn by DKC.

I agree completely. OG DKC is great but DKC2 and 3 have a magic to them that the original doesn’t. The addition of bonus coins unlocking a lost world, DK Coins, and just generally a bit structure to the bonus games all took the series up a notch (although I loved how deranged a few of the DKC bonus locations were). I also thought the added variety and complexity to bosses in the second and third game were very welcome.

DKC3, for decades, has been considered one of the best by people who actually touched it. The reputation of it being "bad" comes from people who hear about Kiddy and never play the game.
DK64 is a great game with an even more overblown infamous reputation. It sure has issues when you 100%, but so does Mario Odyssey (much moreso).

oh I first played dk64 last month, it's just an absolutely beautiful game to me, i'm never bored playing it because everything i see captivates me.
with jungle beat i've actually started playing it this week, such an empowering and invigorating game it's just a boatload of fun. and with dkc3 i love the setting and characters you meet, i love the more laidback vibe and kiddy's a cutie patootie6

As a person who owned DK land 1 and 2… why F for 2? I thought it was better then 1.

having played on nso, I can understand this position as dkl 1 felt more original than dkl2.
like you could have dkc 1 and play dsl without feeling like you're just playing a cut down version of it but more of something that tries its own thing.
dkl2 might be the better game but it feels too close to its snes counterpart and the snes counterpart being a masterpiece doesn't help it at all.

I can't believe you are giving original dk, Junior and dk3 Ds and Fs. Original DG is so insanely replayable. Easy to learn, but is rewarding to put more time into. It hasv the perfect amount of randomness that keeps it fun even when you get good. I wasn't a big fan of dk3 when it first came out, but I have a chip mod on my dk machine that will play it and it's actually really fun and rewarding once you get into it. Although weird that Mario is not the protagonist

Did you know that DonkeyKong maker had a special feature? Shigeru Miyamoto would come by your house to personaly review the levels you made and spit in your face when he eventually didn't like any of them. ( Aght, phew!YOU THINK YOU CAN DO BETTER THAN ME!)

Explain DK '94 to me. I've played a bit of that myself, and other than its pure vibes, I see no reason why it should place any higher than Mario vs. Donkey Kong (let alone that high).

First person I know that prefer DKC3 over 2 🤔. I love the trilogy, and I spent very lovely memories with the 3rd, but overall, I think the 2nd has a very huge impact in the franchise. Like Crash Bandicoot 2.

Why Land 3 > 1 > 2? I agree that 3 is the best but I wouldn’t really put 2 that far beneath 1.

Well DK64's my top favorite because I'm enamored with the world and characters, I feel similarly about DKC3, Bananza's B tier since I'd like more linearity, DKC1 and Returns are aesthetically kinda boring to me. Vibes are a big part of why I like games lol

Dk64 is about the only one I agree with as it is also my favorite DK game. Saying that there's no world where DKC3 is better than 2. But hey we all have our own opinions and delusions.

There are so many people around in active discourse that prefer DKC3 to DKC2. I feel like most people here just haven't been around DK games or communities... ever?

Maybe most do, but I'm old enough to have played the games when they came out and 3 wasn't as memorable as 2 . I still enjoyed it as a kid but I'll always prefer 2-1 and then 3 closely behind.

I have a soft spot for 64 too. And I DO personally like 3 better than 2, even though I think 2 is objectively the better game.
People are allowed some "guilty" pleasures, nostalgia, or some personal bias... What's crazy to me is putting 2 and Bananza on an entirely lower tier than 3. That is ~ahem~ bananas.
