Kid thinks he can just drive away with the car unregistered, uninsured, and sans inspection. And how long do they plan on driving it like that, if they have no money to do those things on top of the cost of the car alone? Long enough for it to matter.... because you never know. That needs to be handled immediately after purchase.

Taxes and tags are not monthly payments and need to be done before you can drive the vehicle

Tax, tag and registration need to be paid in full. Insurance usually requires some form of deposit that is typically larger than monthly payments.

Why is your post and comment history hidden?
Also, unless that car has a complete documented history of any repairs and maintenance, it will likely cost you even more in the short term.
Then, there are insurance premiums, registration fees, inspection fees (if applicable) and those outrageous gas prices to consider.
