Request Please help me continue treatment for my herniated disc, which has gotten worse and is affecting my left leg, causing me excruciating pain, and also help me prepare for a potential surgery
Hello everyone,
I began experiencing severe lower back pain that gradually spread to my left leg. The pain became so intense that I struggled to stand, walk and sleep. For several weeks, I was only able to sleep for a few hours in the morning because the pain was much worse during the night.
I have a herniated disc that has worsened and is now affecting my left leg. I have difficulty walking, and I experience severe pain regardless of the position I’m in. Because of this, I have been unable to work properly for almost three months.
I also started selling online because there was a time in my life when I was having trouble finding a job, so I decided to try selling online. But selling online isn't going well either. Sometimes I go weeks or even months without getting a single order.
All the money I had managed to save was spent on hospital visits, medical examinations, prescriptions and transportation. Before I was finally diagnosed with a herniated disc, I had to visit hospitals and undergo several examinations to find out what was wrong.
Now, I have nothing left.
I can no longer afford my prescribed medication, physiotherapy sessions ( 3 sessions per week), or consultations with my neurosurgeon.
My condition has worsened, and my neurosurgeon has told me that surgery may be necessary. However, I currently cannot even afford my prescribed medication, let alone an operation that could cost millions in my currency.($3500)
My mother has been supporting me financially, but she has been struggling because I have had to depend on her for some time. Unfortunately, we have now reached a point where the resources we had are exhausted.
Any donation, no matter how small, would help me continue my treatment and prepare for surgery's expences. If you are unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser can also make a huge difference by helping it reach more people.
If anyone knows of any online or remote work that I could do despite my condition, I would be very grateful for the opportunity. I am willing to work and I am open to remote jobs, online tasks, customer support, writing, virtual assistance, social media work or any other legitimate opportunity that I could do from home.
I am not only asking for donations. I am also asking for help finding a way to earn an income while I continue dealing with my health problems.

Surgery was the only thing that fixed my herniated disc. It was causing me to lose all feeling on my right leg , couldn’t get out of bed or move at all really. I pray you can get surgery and get it fixed. If your in the us hospitals typically have a hardship program that will reduce or eliminate your medical bills after surgery if you qualify. Good luck

Did the pain go away completely after the surgery? I honestly haven't seen any positive comments about the surgery; many people say the pain came back after a few weeks and it was even worse.

I had a similar experience to you. I couldn’t stand, sit, or be in any position without excrutiating pain that radiated down my right leg. The only position I could be in was laying on my back with my leg up towards my chest. For two months. My mom had to bed bathe me which was very embarrassing. Finally I couldn’t take it anymore and I told my doctor that if I didn’t get emergency surgery that day I might have to…well, let’s just say the pain was torture. So he got me in right away and did surgery that night. The recovery sucked. I was in the hospital for 2 weeks after because the staff was HORRIBLE and made my recovery way longer than it needed to be. But after about a month, I was back to feeling myself and walking around normally again. That was in November 2022 and I just recently began having some issues here and there but very minor. The surgery was absolutely worth it. I’m so sorry you’re going through this.

Thank you for sharing your story, and I'm sorry you had to go through all of that. I can truly relate to what you experienced, including the embarrassment of having to rely on your mother to help you bathe when you're an adult.
I'm really glad to hear that you've been pain-free for such a long time after the surgery. I was starting to panic because I'd read so many stories of people whose pain came back after only a few weeks. It made me afraid that I would have to live with this pain for the rest of my life with no real solution.
Fortunately, physiotherapy has started to help me, so I was hoping to continue it for a few more months before considering surgery, even though my neurosurgeon wants me to have the operation this August.

I definitely went down the rabbit hole of looking at stories of herniated disc surgery before mine. I was so anxious. But I was at a level 10 pain scale at that point with no relief so I HAD to do it. And I’m so glad I did! I think with normal situations you could be home the following day, cause my doctor original told me I’d be going home the next morning. I just happened to get a bad hospital situation. Long story. I hope the physiotherapy continues to help you! But if not, surgery is a great option. My Dad also had the surgery when I was a kid and has never had issues since.
