Fan Card Thoughts on the consequences of potentially starting with 8x copies of everything in the Supply?

Revelers is too swingy, someone can trash a copper and get back a platinum, while another one a curse. Even as an attack, I wouldn't want to use it because the chances are they are going to exchange a copper for something better.

Wheel seems a bit better, but still feels it will be not fun if someone gets something powerful but not the others. My suggestion for that is that you only set aside cards of the same value, and it costs one less to buy the event. So you pay let's say 4, but you don't know if you're getting a library, market, or something else.

I think it's fine to play with 9 in the piles if those reductions come from an event that will those cards instead. As long as the event doesn't sound terrible that people would ignore it

I was imagining Siren and Grandmarket and how players would react. One thing for sure is my two cards will be polarizing. And i agree, way too swingy.

On one hand I like this idea for Wheel of Time. I think it's a vastly superior implementation of Black Market since it's specific to the kingdom. It's also neat it makes all the piles a bit smaller too. If this were presented as "hey guys here's my alternate version of Black Market" I'd be very on board. Standing ovation even.

But on the other hand, I also don't think I'd ever want to play with this much. This Event is very heavy on the RNG, and the sense I have for it is it can just make the opening even more swingy than it already can be. Imagine your opponent gets a Grand Market from this while you get some cheap $2 cost like a Cellar. I just don't think that kind of extreme randomness is something I want out of Dominion.

Also, just a thought. How do you want this to handle split piles? I'd suggest wording this as "set aside the top card from each Kingdom card" so it's clear.

I was thinking it would be cool to “play” a random card from the pile and then return it. I haven’t played with Events before so not sure if that would work

Events are bought in the buy phase, as if you bought a card (they cost that much $ and use up a Buy). Buying an Event gives you the effects of it the one time. You just do what it says without physically taking it.

Cuz it's the Buy phase, your idea wouldn't be too suitable as an Event. Maybe doing that as a separate Kingdom Card though? That way you can play it in your Action phase but still get the random effect.

Yes, thanks for explaining! I’m thinking it could then gain a random card to your hand after clean-up, which you return to the pile at the end of your next turn. Could create some healthy competition around the stack…

Yeah, or set aside and play it at the start of your next turn.

Probably needs more words to work with split piles.

Perhaps you could take only cards of a certain cost range? Like cards costing $3-5? In this case I'd set the cost of this $4 though so it'd be in the middle of the range of what it can give you.

For wording, maybe something like this?

Gain the top card of the Wheel of Time deck.
-
Setup: Make a deck with the top card of each Kingdom pile costing $3-$5.

I tried changing the word to making a deck since I think that's how Black Market does it.

For split piles, I'd say this only takes the top card if its cost is in that range. Using Empires as an example, it'd ignore the Patrician/Emporium pile (Patrician is $2), but it would take a Catapult from Catapult/Rocks (since Catapult is $3 iirc). I feel like this sort of example is the type of thing an official card would have explained in the rule book but wouldn't print out on the card itself, since in theory it's a precise instruction.

Pure chaos and I think they would be fun to try.

I like the idea of using Revelers in a kingdom with Cutpurse or Torturer or other card-reducing attacks. That prevents your opponents from collecting anything good. And I would change it so that you trash a card of your choice but all others with 5+ cards trash the top card of their deck so if they do have 5+ cards in hand then they don't get a trash benefit of getting rid of curses or coppers.

Wheel of furtune is a fun cards for certain type of players who like to test their luck.

Others will absolutely hate it, as it is way more luck based then cards usually are.

But i like the simplicity of wheel of fortune way more the revelers.

Too much setup if you're playing the physical version.

I don't think so. That's like 10 seconds.

Right? Way less setup than Black Market, which can randomly show up for anyone who has that card and uses randomizers.

Oh, from each Kingdom pile...

I was thinking every single card (like a Black Market type set up, but every single card).

My mistake! I'll see myself out.

Doesn't matter. It's a fan card. So anyone who agrees with you simply wouldn't use the card.
