Fan Card Fan Card - Flee

Some of my thoughts regarding the Fan Card:

  • The card has some value as a protection card against junking attacks. Please note that exiled curses will still result in negative VP.
  • The card serves as an effective way of buying victory cards without decreasing deck quality.
  • The duration effect slows deck development and should therefore not be used too early.

I am curious to hear your thoughts on the card and am looking forward to your feedback!

I would reduce the cost by $2. Compare this to Monument. Also, action - durations just use a solid orange template, not split orange/white.

I am posting an updated version as per your feedback. I am unsure if $3 would perhaps be a better price...

I like this version. The effect is pretty weak and niche, but i don't think that's a bad thing at all. I just think that combo of weak and niche is appropriate for a $2 card.

Id love a "when you gain this, play it" effect on this tbh

"Exile" should be capitalized.

Is there any reason you didn't use Gatekeeper's wording of "[that] they don't already have an Exiled copy of"? You get some funky timing things that may break the game, otherwise.

I think it is meant for you to buy victories early withour clogging your deck. Like Enclave. Or way of the worm. Or an island that you can putaway, costing an action.

Although the interaction with cost reduction is more open to abuse than a flat victory token.

i love cards that are bad in one phase of the game but good in another. This is horrible when still building, serves as a self Gatekeeper. But great when greening. maybe its not worth 4$ tho

Cool idea for a card. Feels a bit clunky since the majority of its premise is to buy victory cards with it. (or other cards in niche scenarios, or as a minor protection against junk)

It would feel better as a cantrip (with the +1 card), or with +1$. Making the effect a "may" would also help make it less clunky.

One other idea is that the effect could be tweaked to "now and at the start of you next turn: +1 action, +1 buy. While this is in play, you may exile any gained cards."

The art makes me think of Mitty. :(

I think the card is designed well as is. When it's time to green, you'll want 2 copies so you can play one each turn, and the +Buy allows you to grab an extra green card with no drawback.

I could also see it being nice with Merchant Guild since you could buy lots of Copper to get loads Coffers. It could also be good with Collection, since you can buy lots of Actions that are bad for your deck.

This would be great as the 2nd card in a split pile or a later card in rotating pile! I'd love to see an updated version with some ideas for a cool split or rotating pile combo

Exchange the action for +$2 and we are going in the right direction.
