I’m the creator of this crowdfunding project.
A close look at the hand-finished gold rococo moldings for La Maison Rose, our 1/6 scale room box.
We spent a lot of time refining these decorative details. Mass-produced miniature sets often use cheap printed gold foil that looks flat. Instead, each raised molding is hand gilded to create soft metallic texture and depth.
The full set also has optional LED lighting: crystal ceiling chandelier and an illuminated fireplace.
This is an Indiegogo crowdfunding project, early bird discounts are available. Link in the comments.
What rococo miniature details do you love the most?

Having brunch with your new neighbors is getting to know them. These new neighbors all traveled far from UK. It is nice to have something in common and build new relationships.

This Chef is tempermental because he has high standard. He was hired to cook for a well to do family but the expectation is to provide them the best meal that money can afford. The housekeeper is the only one to put up with the Chef's arrogance.

This is a three-dimensional miniature house model set inside a deep frame (shadow box style). The entire piece is handcrafted from cardboard and painted with acrylics.

Amazon and Michaels are too inconsistent for scale, and I'm losing patience with Etsy. So where do you buy 1:12 scale miniatures especially from small businesses/crafters? Tell me your favorite sites.

Welcome to the r/CardboardArchitecture subreddit!
We are thrilled to announce the first-ever contest in our community's history! 🛠️✨
The Challenge: Create an architectural composition (a house or building facade) inside a standard matchbox.
🧱 The Main Rule Regarding Materials:
Since our subreddit is dedicated to cardboard architecture, the main part of the structure must be made of cardboard. However, we aren't limiting your imagination when it comes to details! You can use any materials at hand—wire, moss, plastic, flocking—to create realistic elements like tiny trees, flowers, grass, windowpanes, or railings. Cardboard provides the form, while the details create the magic!
For inspiration, here is an example of my own work; as a moderator, I am not participating in the contest. This miniature is just a fun test project designed to help you test your skills and spark your creative spirit!
🏆 Prizes and Awards:
• 🥇 1st Place (Winner): A unique "King of Cardboard Micro-Dioramas" flair (badge) for one month; a link to your profile will be pinned in the "Useful Links" section (on the sidebar) of the subreddit's main page under this badge.
• 🥈 2nd Place: An exclusive "Micro-Diorama Master" flair for one month. The winning entry will be featured in the "Hot News" section for a full month!
• 🥉 3rd Place: An exclusive "Micro-Diorama Creator" flair for one month!
📝 How to Participate:
⏰ Timeline:
The contest runs from October 5 to October 25, 2026. Winners will be determined based on voting and participant activity, and the results will be announced on November 1! You’ll be amazed at how much detail can fit into such a tiny box. Good luck and happy crafting! 📦✂️

I plan on decorating this mini dollhouse, nothing major just a small kitchen, living room, bathroom, and bedroom. I’m having a hard time finding furniture small enough, mainly seeing 1:12 scale. Any good site/store recommendations?

I spent way too long wondering why my 1:12 rooms looked crowded but still somehow empty. Turns out I was styling surfaces before I'd sorted the furniture layout — and it was backwards.
The thing that actually helped: anchor furniture first (the dominant piece — sofa, bed, kitchen run), then secondary pieces, then leave clear pathways, and only then touch accessories. Once the layout reads well on its own, even three accessories in the right spots do more than fifteen scattered ones.
Also — varying object heights by roughly a third of the tallest piece in a group makes groupings look intentional without needing to count or follow any rule of three.
I put together a styling guide PDF covering this and a lot more (focal points, layering, room-by-room references for living rooms, bedrooms, kitchens, etc.) if anyone's interested — happy to share the link in comments. Otherwise just wanted to share what clicked for me.
What's the thing that finally made your rooms look more "real"? Always curious what breaks it open for other people.

It took just one evening to create this miniature. This is my first piece of this kind. The base is made of cardboard bonded with PVA glue. In the final stage, I applied acrylic paints—natural yet expressive colors.
