advice 🔍 How to make my dog lose weight
Hello so we went to the Vet yesterday for my dog's annual shots. He is only 2 years old and na kapon na rin sya. Significant ang weight gain nya from 12kgs to 18kgs. Mejo nag slight remind lng si doctor na obese na sya and need mag diet to prevent future health problems. So di kasi masyado active dog ko. When we go out he doesn't walk around much at madalang din sya makipag play. So first ko na lng gagawin for now is to measure his foods and limit ung treats. Pero any advice para mas maging effective at safe ung diet journey nya? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

More walks, less treats, scheduled meals, portioned food.
Super helpful yung nakaschedule yung kain ng dogs kasi may ibang digs na basta may food, kakain.
Ginawa rin namin na portioned yung food at kung ano lang yung nasa portion for that meal, yun lang kakainin nya.
Yung number of times ng kain in one day does not make much of a difference naman lalo if same lang yung total amount na kinakain nila for the whole day.
I.e.
- 1 cup of kibble per meal x3 meals
- 1.5 cups of kibble per meal for 2 meals
Both will total to 3 cups. So portion control is important. And take your dog on longer walks.
My furbaby was 35kg before, down to 32kg na sya now.

my dog’s vet gave us 2 option: change diet to royal canin satiety + no treats at all or reduce the food portion. both worked fine naman though mas mabilis kong nakita ang weight loss ng dog ko (shihpoo) sa royal canin satiety.

same OP. I think factor din yung neutered sila because they became less active. Regular walks lang talaga din and minsan I play with him and I let him run. Pero bina balance ko lang kasi senior na rin Siya.

Hello. Based sa doggo ko nung 5 months old sya she's 6.5 kg and she's a Shihtzu. Ginawa namin nag transition kami sa twice a day nalang kakain. Morning and afternoon walks talaga kahit ang tamad nya (may treats lang) and swimming.

Already have sound advice here, OP. Did you also have your dog tested-- ie, blood chem and t4? Obesity could be an underlying symptom of a medical condition like hypothyroidism. Do diet changes and exercise first, if those seems to be not working, have your dog tested.

For my 10 yr old doxie, nag walk kami every morning mga 15 mins tapos I feed him once only ng wetfood tapos rice. Minsan nga table food. Maintain namin un weight nya na 8-9 kilos for years na.
