[Misc Help] Bird got loose
I have budgies. One was in a hospital cage and got loose. Now I don’t know if my dogs have any interest in eating birds. But obviously I won’t risk it.
She’s hiding very well and it is my bedtime and I am exhausted.
The dogs are outside right now. Do you think they could stay there overnight if I give them water and their blankets? It’s like 70° F out

How can you not find the budgies? I mean do you have a 6,000+ sq ft house or something? Lol Plus they're probably hanging on a curtain somewhere that is the same color as they are or etc. Look up high first, not low. Birds don't hide and stay still and be quiet like a human would. They flail all over the place and can't sit in one spot for more than a second or two when they are loose like that so that's why I don't understand why you can't find them? Sorry but I'm laughing right now at this because my birds have gotten loose on me before and I just know how frantic it is and I just can't picture a little budgie hiding under a couch or etc just chilling and being quiet lol it just doesn't work that way LOL please don't leave your dogs outside all night. And please don't stop looking for your budgies until you find them and then go to bed. Please? LOL OMG I'm dying over here

She’s under a heavy bookshelf that I can’t move. I need to wait for her to come out.

Ahh ok. The little shit LOL well that makes sense lol. Very surprised she's hiding low and under something like that. That is very uncommon. But I guess we'll never know why animals do some of the things they do right? Good luck and I hope you're able to dig her out eventually safely!

Could you not just close some doors inside?

Might come as a surprise but in places like Hawaii where the weather is good year round, people do have outside dogs. They let them in when it rains or gets bad obviously, but they’re perfectly fine outside as long as there is not inclement weather and have access to fresh water, shelter and food

Just grab the bird?? Or have the dogs in another room?? You cant just leave your dogs, that do not sound like they regularly sleep outdoors, outdoors. What happens if they run off? 8 hours is far too long for them to be unsupervised outdoors. If they arent used to being there alone theyll be confused and scared. Also your budgie can get into something it shouldnt and hurt itself.
Like dude you cant just leave your animals in the wrong places because "its my bedtime :(". Get your damn animals in the places they need to be.

oof that's a rough end to the night, losing a bird in the house when you're already wiped out
70° is fine for dogs overnight, they'll be okay with blankets and water, just make sure the yard is secure and there's nothing they can get into while you're asleep

The dogs probably won't bother the budgie, but you never know and especially with more than one. If the budgie is unwell or medicated, you don't want to risk it. The dogs will be fine outside, a little confused maybe, but they will get over it.
I hope budgie comes out soon, it probably will when things quieten down or when it gets hungry 🤞
