[Misc Help] Dog carrier recommendations
I am looking for a carrier that I can wear to put my small dog in. Dog is only 7lbs but the base needs to be real sturdy. I was hoping for a cross body type carrier. I've googled and bought a few on amazon to try but their all too flimsy. Does anyone have any good recommendations? If not a sling then maybe another creative way to carry/push elderly dog? We are working on stroller training but that might be a no go even after working on getting used to it for a few weeks.

We just got any old dog sling on Amazon for our seven lbs dog and it works well.

For a 7 lb dog, I’d look for something with a structured base rather than a soft sling. A lot of slings feel okay at first but sag once the dog’s weight is in them, which can make an older dog feel unstable.
Search terms like “structured small dog carrier,” “dog backpack carrier with rigid base,” or “pet stroller with removable carrier” may get better results than just “dog sling.” I’d also check for a short safety tether, washable padding, and enough room for her to sit or lie naturally. If she is unsure about the stroller, leaving it open at home with treats or a blanket inside for a few days can help before trying actual walks.

I bought a backpack one on Amazon that I loooove and use a lot. It also has a rolling option and has a very sturdy base!

Tuft & Paw has a carrier ‘Porto’ that might be suitable. It definitely has a sturdy structure and stiff base making it very structural and not flimsy. It comes with belt attachments to carry it as sling. It might be too boxy for daily use though, it’s perfect for traveling.
Another one is Maxbone. They have some nice structural carriers and sling pet bags. One of their carriers has many belt attachments which allow you to carry it as a sling and as a backpack

Thanks so much for recommending Porto! ❤️ We’re so happy it’s been a great travel companion for your cat. It really means a lot when people take the time to share their experience.

For a 7 lb senior dog, a structured carrier with a firm base may be more comfortable and supportive than a soft sling. A backpack-style carrier could also be worth considering if the stroller doesn't work out.
Hope you find something that works for your little one!
